Welcome to DSO!

JUST IN: Our former Department Head, Dr. Christina Arcena Gabrillo, and the current Station Manager of VSU DYDC 104.7 FM has just been appointed as the new Dean of Students of the Visayas State University.

Dr. Gabrillo was also recently reclassified to the rank of Professor V. She has served for over a decade as Department Head of the Department of Development Communication—a CHED Center of Development in Development Communication. She was also the longest serving Station Manager of VSU's campus radio that spanned for 13 years.

She is also a fellow of the East-West Center Asia Pacific Leadership Program (APLP) in 2019, and is currently serving as the Alumni Chapter Board Secretary for 2024 to 2026. This international organization is based in Honolulu, Hawaii in the United States.

She has long been involved in many student engagements being a long time adviser of the VSU Development Communicators' Society and the designated guidance-based facilitator of her home unit. She also served as a Dormitory Adviser of Dahlia Ladies' Hall for 5 years.

As an academic leader, she has long promoted the welfare of her students by advocating for free exchange of ideas that made way for the holistic growth and development of DevCom students here in VSU.
