A Resounding Success: The First CPD Webinar on Farm Management and Finance
The Center for Continuing Education (CCE) at Visayas State University, in partnership with the Continuing Professional Development office, successfully held its first CPD-accredited webinar. Titled "Capacity Building on Farm Management and Finance," the event took place via Zoom from August 26 to 28, 2026, and drew participants eager to sharpen their skills in agricultural business management.
The three-day webinar, held daily from 8:00 AM to 12:00 NN, was more than just a training session—it reflected the university’s commitment to lifelong learning and professional growth. Accredited with 4.0 CPD credit units by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC Accreditation No. PTR-2021-301-2584), the activity attracted a diverse group of professionals and practitioners who recognized the need to update their knowledge in farm financial management.
The success of the program was made possible through the teamwork of key individuals. Dr. Glenn G. Pajares, Vice President for Planning and Development, delivered the opening remarks, reaffirming the administration’s support for initiatives that promote professional development and accountability. Mr. Kevin R. Sumayang, Head of the Continuing Professional Development office, introduced the resource speaker and helped coordinate the partnership between CCE and his office.
The main resource person, Mr. Michael R. Calungsod, Instructor I at the College of Education, gave comprehensive lectures on farm records, asset valuation, enterprise budgeting, partial budgeting, and farm business analysis. Each session was followed by engaging Q&A portions where participants raised practical concerns and clarified their understanding.
The webinar concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Zyra May H. Centino, Director of the Center for Continuing Education, who expressed her gratitude to both the participants and the organizing team. She underscored the importance of such capacity-building programs in empowering agriculture professionals. The event wrapped up with announcements and reminders from the master of ceremonies, leaving participants inspired and equipped with fresh insights.
With an affordable registration fee of ₱350.00 and limited slots that were quickly filled, the event proved to be a timely and valuable opportunity. This first CPD webinar marks a promising beginning for more collaborative learning initiatives between CCE and the Continuing Professional Development office.
The organizers are already planning similar capacity-building activities to further support the agricultural community and other professionals in need of practical, relevant training. For updates on future programs, interested individuals may get in touch with the Center for Continuing Education.
