Project Update ✨

The BIOTECH Outreach Program team met with Baybay City officials led by Mayor Jose Carlos Cari, discussing the BIOTECH Outreach Program integration to ongoing programs and initiatives of the Local Government (LGU) of Baybay and Department of Education (DepEd) Baybay.

The meeting was also attended by Atty. Jun Cayunda, City Administrator, Ms. Josie Granada-Gutierrez of the Baybay City Tourism office, and Hon. Joe Bacusmo.

Valuable insights and support for collaboration steadily pushes the program forward, bringing biotechnology, biomedical and life sciences closer to Baybay City 🧬🇵🇭

Before the day ends, we want to greet Dr. Edgardo E. Tulin a very happy birthday! 🎉

We’ve officially kicked off our BIOTECH Outreach Program with a courtesy visit to the DepEd Baybay City Division! Huge thanks to Dr. Manuel Albaño for the warm welcome and for sharing our enthusiasm for the program’s goals.

We are thrilled to welcome to the Visayas State University, Dr. Richard D. Cummings, Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School and Chief of the Division of Surgical Sciences at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

Dr. Cummings is a world-renowned glycoscientist, Director of the National Center for Functional Glycomics, and co-founder of the Harvard Medical School Center for Glycoscience. With over 450 publications, 32 patents, and pioneering contributions to medicine, biotechnology, and global health, he is considered one of the leading voices in advancing glycoscience worldwide.
