𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗦 🌊 | Over 600 volunteers from various organizations gathered at the VSU and Pangasugan shorelines for the International Coastal Clean-up (ICC) 2026 on September 19, joining the annual initiative to promote cleaner shores and responsible waste management.

After the opening program, volunteers were deployed to the coastal areas, with the clean-up conducted across four designated stations.

Collected waste was then brought for segregation and assessment through the Waste Assessment and Brand Audit (WABA), allowing volunteers to identify and properly classify the different types of waste gathered during the clean-up.

The activity served not only as a hands-on effort to clear the coastlines of waste but also as an advocacy for responsible consumption, and collective action toward protecting marine and coastal ecosystems.

This annual initiative calls on the VSU community to carry these practices beyond the clean-up and continue making informed and sustainable choices in managing waste.

𝑩𝑨𝒀𝑩𝑨𝒀𝑨𝑵𝑰𝑯𝑨𝑵 𝐬𝐚 𝐕𝐒𝐔: 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧-𝐔𝐩 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 🌊

Yesterday, September 19, 2026, each volunteers’ Saturday was filled with bayanihan spirit for the cleanliness of the coast along VSU Beach and Brgy. Pangasugan areas. With the collaboration of various core, collaborating, and participating organizations, the unity of the volunteers and student-leaders was definitely on the shores! 🫧

Originating at Visayas State University before expanding regionally last year and now nationwide through RADAR, 𝐁𝐀𝐘𝐁𝐀𝐘𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐇𝐀𝐍 was conceptualized to give a unified identity to youth-led environmental action. It is a student-led, data-driven, clean-up program that integrates Waste Assessment and Brand Audit (WABA). This framework is adaptable to any clean-up drive activities, making the initiative impactful not only by collecting waste but uses the data as foundation for educational campaigns and policy making. The 𝐁𝐀𝐘𝐁𝐀𝐘𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐇𝐀𝐍 𝐬𝐚 𝐕𝐒𝐔: 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧-𝐔𝐩 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 was the proof that tiny ripples of action indeed create lasting waves of impact.

This is just the beginning but already a big step ahead in ensuring that our initiatives are not just significant but also sustainable. From ridge to reef, let's 𝘴𝘦𝘢 to it that no areas left are full of waste!

𝗕𝗔𝗬𝗕𝗔𝗬𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗛𝗔𝗡 is a data-driven clean-up framework developed by VSU - Baybay in collaboration with 𝘙𝘈𝘋𝘈𝘙 (𝘙𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘝𝘐𝘐𝘐 𝘈𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘋𝘖𝘚𝘛 𝘚𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘈𝘥𝘷𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘦), and has since been adopted by fellow DOST scholar communities in other regions for their own coastal clean-ups. 🌏
