Restoration Committee & Clean-Up Drive |
Last Friday night, August 14, 2026, joined hands with dedicated student organizations to serve on the Restoration Committee for post-Salubong 2026.
Working together under the night sky, the volunteers rolled up their sleeves to ensure the upper oval was left spotless. The team systematically collected garbage, carefully sorted and labeled recyclables, and weighed the collected wastes to promote proper waste management and environmental accountability.
A massive thank you to all the partner organizations that powered the Restoration Committee and waste audit:
Restoration Committee Volunteers:
FOC-SSC, VSUStatSoc, AVESS, FME-SSC, FTE-SSC, PSM, FFES-SSC, FSS, and VE.
Waste Audit Team:
VE, VSUStatSoc, AVESS, and FME-SSC.
This collective effort stands as a true testament to the power of volunteerism, unity, and shared responsibility for our community and environment. Massive thanks to all the organizations and volunteers who poured their time and energy into making this restoration a success. Together, we keep our spaces clean, green, and vibrant! โจ

๐ฟ๐ VSU Salubong 2026: A Look at Our Waste Footprint ๐๐ฟ
Last week, our campus was buzzing with excitement as we welcomed the newest batch of Viscans during ! ๐
As part of our ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, we conducted a comprehensive post-event audit to measure the waste generated during the festivities.
The results are in, and they show a clear area for improvement. ๐ Out of a total of 49.92 kg of waste audited:
โข ๐ Plastics were the overwhelming majority, weighing in at 31.03 kg.
โข ๐ Papers/Cardboards followed with 11.25 kg.
โข ๐ Food Wastesaccounted for 5.87 kg.
โข ๐ Textile Wastes made up 1.77 kg.
While events like Salubong inevitably generate waste, this audit serves as a powerful baseline and a call to action. We must be more conscious of our consumption and disposal habits, especially with single-use plastics.
Let this report be the start of a bigger conversation and concrete steps toward minimizing our impact on campus. Together, we can pave the way for a greener, healthier planet and a more sustainable VSU. Be the change you wish to see in the world! ๐๐
