In her talk on Servant Leadership, Ms. Heart B. Yokingco reminded scholars that being disturbed by injustice is not a weakness — it is the very proof that our hearts are still awake. To care is to refuse comfort while others suffer. To be bothered is to recognize that our knowledge, our voice, and our privilege are not ours alone to keep.

And if we can make life even a little less unfair for our fellow Filipinos, then it is something worth fighting for. 🫶✨

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽?

Ms. Fatima Rose P. Polinar invited every scholar in the room to sit with that question — not as a checklist of achievements, but as a mirror. Being a DOST scholar is a privilege earned, yes, but it is also a responsibility owed. The stipend, the trainings, the opportunities — these are not trophies to display; they are seeds meant to be planted in the communities that need them most.

Social responsibility, she reminded us, is less about what we do and more about 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘦 𝘥𝘰 𝘪𝘵. 🌱

𝗔 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺.

In a culture that worships speed and constant forward motion, Dr. Ronald Arlet Villaber offered scholars a quieter, braver definition of excellence — one that makes room for pauses, detours, and seasons of feeling left behind. Real excellence, he shared from his own journey, is not an uninterrupted climb. It is resilience. It is patience. It is the courage to keep going when life forces a pause.

Sometimes growth happens loudly. Sometimes it happens in silence. Both still count. 🤍

In his Introductory Workshop on Values, Mr. Joemar B. Yap pushed scholars to be honest about something we rarely admit out loud — that hard work alone didn't get us here. Opportunity did. Access did. The people who believed in us did. And once we accept that truth, the question shifts from 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘐 𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦? to 𝘞𝘩𝘰 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘐 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘵?

Knowledge tells us what's possible. Values decide what we'll actually do with it. The choices we make today are quietly drafting the people we'll be tomorrow. ✨

The leadership camp was more than just speakers sharing their experiences and ideas. It was a gathering where scholars were inspired to continue pursuing the very reason why they are called 𝐈𝐬𝐤𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧—to resonate with fellow Filipinos and go where they are needed most.
