The Department of Pure & Applied Chemistry along with the Faculty of Natural and Mathematical Sciences (FNMS) celebrates the achievements of our graduates in this year's Chemist and Chemical Technician Licensure Examinations (CLE and CTLE) with a first-timer passing rate of 80% (overall 68.2%) for the CLE and 97.01% overall for the CTLE.

We also celebrate the triumph of 𝐌𝐫. 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐞𝐥 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐆. 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 of the class of 2024 for securing Top 8 at this year's CLE with a rating of 92.15%.

The entire VSU community shares in your triumph - mga tunay na Tatak Viscans. May you all be an inspiration for those who are also aspiring to become Chemists and Chemical Technicians one day.

The Department of Pure & Applied Chemistry, the Faculty of Natural and Mathematical Sciences, and the VSU Graduate Education office of the Visayas State University Main Campus are pleased to announce the granting of the 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 (𝐂𝐎𝐏𝐂) for the 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 (𝐌𝐒 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐦) program.

This would not have been possible without the guidance of the university and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the granting of the COPC being a testament to the grit and perseverance of our faculty toward our dear VSU's educational agendas.

On the 18th of July, 2025, our very own Lara Jetcah Tulin was one of the eight presenters for the Faculty of Natural and Mathematical Sciences' first ever Research Symposium. This presentation also comes with it a competition for Best Thesis and Best Presenter. The department is so proud of you and looking forward to our students reaching higher.

It is with great sorrow that I announce the passing of one our own here at the department, a colleague with whom we have shared laughter, sadness, and frustrations with as we went about with our careers at the university. Sir Genesis C. Albarico, who I affectionately called Bonjourne as part of a long-term running joke, was not just an ordinary educator. His demeanor and contagious laughter brought joy to the mundane of the daily grind we all shared. The ideas that ran through the mind of that man always amazed me, and more so that he had a deep passion for doing what he loved. The halls of the department for now will feel empty because of your absence. As someone who helped me along my journey as head, this invisible wound runs deep.

Let us take a moment of silence to pray for his soul, that the Lord may grant his family and friends the strength in these trying times. Tonight, I raise my glass to you, Bonjourne. Thanks for being my groomsman when I asked you back then. May you rest in eternal peace.

ANNOUNCEMENT | To all newly hired faculty members in the VSU main and VITA campuses.

In preparation for the first semester of AY 2024-2025, all newly hired faculty members are invited to attend the Faculty Onboarding tomorrow, August 12, from 8am to 5pm at RDE Hall.

The onboarding will cover important topics for maintaining quality instruction and offer valuable learning experiences for VSU faculty.

All other interested faculty members are also urged to participate in the activity.
