The Faculty of Agriculture and Food Science (FAFS) celebrates a special milestone for our dearest Ms. Remenita “Ate Nenette” Solis, as we greet her on her birthday and honor her retirement from government service after 42 remarkable years of dedicated service to VSU, 25 of which were spent with FAFS.

Through the years, Ate Nenette has been one of the dependable people behind the growth and development of FAFS, providing the essential administrative support that kept the Faculty and its many activities moving.

This morning, members of the FAFS Executive Committee (EXECOM), composed of the different Department Heads, gathered at our Conference Room for a simple celebration to thank Ate Nenette for the many years she has generously shared with VSU.

Happy birthday and Happy Retirement, Ate Nenette! Thank you for your dedication, service, and friendship. We wish you great health, happiness, and many more blessed years ahead!

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | On August 27, 2026, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Science, Dr. Suzette B. Lina signed the FAFS Memo No. 08 s. 2026 encouraging the 1st and 2nd year BS in Agriculture students to attend the 4-H Club VSU Chapter's Orientation this Saturday at 1:00-3:00 PM at the FME New Building, Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Room 301.🍀

This orientation will give 4-H'ers the knowledge about the club, discover opportunities, and an avenue to discover themselves. 💚

Congratulations, DFST, on this remarkable milestone! 🎉👏👏👏

𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐈𝐍 | 𝐕𝐒𝐔 𝐅𝐎𝐎𝐃 𝐓𝐄𝐂𝐇𝐍𝐎𝐋𝐎𝐆𝐘 𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐃𝐔𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐊𝐒 𝟖𝐓𝐇 𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐖𝐈𝐃𝐄

Khyle Otero Sta. Iglesia made it to 8th place nationwide in the August 2026 Professional Food Technologists Computer-Based Licensure Examination, earning a rating of 88.00%.

Beyond this individual feat, VSU posted an 80.00% institutional passing rate, with 24 of its 30 examinees passing the examination. Of the 24 passers, 17 were first-time takers.

VSU also placed 6th nationwide among schools with 25 or more examinees and at least an 80% passing percentage.

On August 14, 2026, the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Science (FAFS) held an orientation for its freshmen and sophomore students to prepare them for another exciting academic year. During the activity, the department heads of FAFS warmly welcome the freshmen BS Agriculture students and the returning sophomores!
Meanwhile, the Department of Development Communication and the Department of Food Science and Technology conduct separate orientations for their students from first year to fourth year, welcoming them back and preparing them for the year ahead.

The FAFS-Supreme Student Council extends its proudest congratulations to Vergelio “VJ” D. Balingcos III, a dedicated member of our Board of Trustees and an incoming plant breeding senior, for completing and representing the University in the two-week 2026 AAACU Summer Enrichment Program held at the University of the Philippines Los Baños.

Exemplifying passion for the advancement of sustainable agriculture, VJ was immersed and took part in lectures and workshops across six universities in Luzon with participants from different academic institutions, allowing them to impart insights and obtain new ideas through the program.

We are hopeful that your learning from this one for the books experience will resonate in your undertakings as a future agriculturist and scholar.
