TRIBUTE PARTY | Class of 2026

The Department of Geodetic Engineering proudly celebrated the Tribute Party for the BSGE Class of 2026 on July 21, 2026, at the FE Activity Hall, Visayas State University.

One of the highlights of the evening was the message delivered by Asst. Prof. Glenda Loraine Sobrio, who encouraged the graduands to embrace every challenge they would encounter beyond the university. She reminded the graduands that setbacks are part of the journey, but perseverance is what truly defines success. She shared these inspiring words:
“Rest when you need to. Cry when you need to. Feel disappointed. Feel frustrated. Feel angry if you must. But whatever happens, always remember to Padayon. Padayon sa pagtuo sa imong kaugalingon. Padayon sa pagkab-ot sa imong mga pangandoy. Ug padayon sa paghimo og kinabuhi nga inyong ikapasigarbo.”

As the BSGE Class of 2026 embarks on a new chapter, may these words serve as a constant reminder to continue pursuing their dreams with courage and determination.

The Department of Geodetic Engineering proudly extends its heartfelt congratulations to Asst. Prof. Glenda Loraine S. Sobrio on earning her Master of Arts (Urban and Regional Planning) with a Specialization in Environment and Natural Resources Planning, from the School of Urban and Regional Planning, University of the Philippines - Diliman.

We are especially proud to celebrate your outstanding academic achievement as one of the recipients of the Dean's Medallion, an honor bestowed upon graduates who attained a General Weighted Average (GWA) of 1.25 or better. This prestigious recognition is a testament to your exceptional dedication, perseverance, and pursuit of academic excellence.

𝗕𝗦𝗚𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗖𝗛 𝗖𝗢𝗟𝗟𝗢𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗨𝗠 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

The Department of Geodetic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Visayas State University, successfully conducted the BSGE Research Colloquium 2026 on June 8, 2026, at the FE Activity Hall.

The colloquium featured the presentation of fourteen (14) undergraduate research studies by graduating Bachelor of Science in Geodetic Engineering students. The event served as a platform for the dissemination of research findings, scholarly exchange, and academic discussion, showcasing the students’ competence in conducting research relevant to the advancement of the geodetic engineering profession.

The Department extends its sincere appreciation to the panel evaluators, faculty members, students, and guests whose invaluable support and participation contributed to the success of this academic undertaking.

The Department of Geodetic Engineering of Visayas State University proudly presents the BSGE Research Colloquium 2026, an academic gathering that highlights the research achievements and scholarly contributions of our graduating Bachelor of Science in Geodetic Engineering students.

📍 HAPPENING NOW | Visayas State University

Visayas State University (VSU), through the Department of Geodetic Engineering (DGE) and the Geospatial Research, Innovation, and Development (GRID) Center, is currently hosting an international training workshop on:

“Using Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Cloud Computing for Resilient Communities”

Student participants are actively engaged in this hands-on learning experience, exploring the use of drone technology, mapping, and cloud-based tools for real-world applications in disaster risk reduction and sustainable development.

In collaboration with HELP.NGO
HELP.NGO is an international non-profit organization specializing in emergency response, preparedness, risk mitigation, and disaster prevention. As a United Nations Standby Partner, the organization leverages advanced technologies such as drones, cloud computing, and data systems to support humanitarian operations and improve decision-making before, during, and after disasters.

Led by Matthew Cua, Innovation Director of HELP.NGO, the training introduces:
- Drones for good mapping and GIS concepts
- Cloud computing for geospatial workflows
- Mission planning and data processing using modern platforms
