Guinzadan National High School (GNHS) has officially launched its pioneering Specialized Curriculum on Traditional Backstrap Weaving, a groundbreaking initiative that positions the school at the forefront of cultural preservation by seamlessly blending traditional indigenous knowledge with academic learning. DepEd Regional Director Nicolas T. Capulong, alongside Assistant Regional Director Ronald B. Castillo, visited the school today, June 17, 2026, to monitor the new program's implementation and progress.

In a strong demonstration of community and multi-stakeholder support for this new educational venture, Bauko Municipal Mayor Randy T. Awisan, Guinzadan Sur Punong Barangay Alfredo B. Dalang and representatives from Guinzadan Norte joined the school administration in welcoming the regional delegation.

Also present to support the evaluation of the new program were key SDO Mountain Province officials: SDS Benilda M. Daytaca, OIC-ASDS John Libongen, Jr., SGOD Chief Rosendo Cacap, EPS Howard Poking, EPS Agrifina Lumpisa, and Bauko I PSDS Eufemia Balao.

This notable visit underscores GNHSโ€™s dedication to providing innovative, learner-centered education aligned with the Department of Educationโ€™s vision.

GNHS held a Parentsโ€™ Orientation on June 9, 2026, to rally family support for student safety, academic reforms, and cultural preservation. The event highlighted the second day of the school's opening block for SY 2026-2027.

The program began with a road safety briefing from Bauko MPS personnel, who also emphasized how family meals foster discipline and holistic child well-being. This was followed by presentations from Education Program Supervisor (EPS) Jocelyn Patnay on the Indigenous Peoples Education (IPED) framework, and EPS Nemia N. Lite on the Strengthened Senior High School Curriculum, focusing on the schoolโ€™s new Unique Curriculum on Backstrap Weaving under the TechPro Track. Both supervisors encouraged parents to support this cultural transmission by motivating their children to enroll.

Following the curriculum briefing, Sir Manuel Tica-a led a Brigada Eskwela evaluation held on June 1-5, 2026. He stressed uncompleted projects from the initial run and encouraged parents who missed the activity to render volunteer hours through the Brigada Plus.

Updates on learning system reforms were also laid out, with School Principal Erlinda W. Batong explaining the new Three-Term School Calendar, and Mrs. Esther C. Bantasan detailing modifications to classroom assessment, the grading system, and awards. The orientation concluded with the election of new PTA officers, reinforcing the crucial role of parents in school governance.

June 08, 2026 | Guinzadan National High School (GNHS) kicked off its opening block of activities today with a comprehensive Back-to-School Orientation, prioritizing student safety, educational reforms, preparedness, and career guidance.

The program's opening segment focused on student welfare. Personnel from the Bauko Municipal Police Station (MPS) and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion launched an anti-bullying campaign, urging a family-like school environment, while emphasizing strict discipline regarding motorcycle use to direct home-to-school travel. School Nurse Warren Modawan complemented the safety briefing by reviewing DepEd anti-bullying protocols, reporting procedures, and campus health guidelines.

The orientation then shifted to academic and policy reforms aligned with the latest DepEd standards. School Principal Erlinda W. Batong introduced the new Three-Term School Calendar, while Ms. Judyline D. Batong detailed updates to classroom assessments, the grading system, and student awards to ensure clear alignment among students and teachers.

Following a brief intermission, Ms. Bernadeth B. Aliping provided an overview of the strengthened Senior High School Curriculum and the Work Immersion Program.
