Matyag Elementary School 4th School Learning Action Cell (SLAC) 📝📋📚🤓

The School Learning Action Cell (SLAC) conducted at Matyag Elementary School, Bataraza District I, Schools Division of Palawan, on September 24, 2026, served as a meaningful avenue for teachers to strengthen their professional knowledge, reflect on their teaching practices, and work collaboratively toward improved learner outcomes. Anchored on the belief that “A committed teacher continuously develops, because growing as an educator leads to greater impact in the lives of learners,” the activity highlighted the importance of continuous professional development in the teaching profession.

The highlight of the session was the discussion on SNED Content and Pedagogy: Remembering and Concentrating Difficulty. The topic was particularly relevant to inclusive education because learners have different abilities, needs, experiences, and ways of learning. Understanding difficulties related to remembering and concentration can help teachers recognize learner needs and provide appropriate strategies, accommodations, and interventions. It also reinforces the principle that every learner deserves patience, understanding, respect, and meaningful opportunities to participate in the learning process.

Activity: School Safety Drill for Active Attack Incident

On September 4, 2026, Matyag Elementary School, Inogbong, Bataraza, Palawan, conducted a School Safety Drill for Active Attack Incident as part of the school’s continuing efforts to strengthen its emergency preparedness, safety awareness, and capacity to respond appropriately to potential threats within the school environment.
With the assistance of the First PPMFC 3rd Platoon led by PLt.Daniel Arevalo and Bureau of Fire Protection - Bataraza led by SFO1 Malaya R. Laurencio, the activity aimed to familiarize learners, teaching and non-teaching personnel, and other concerned stakeholders with appropriate safety procedures during an active attack situation. The drill emphasized the importance of remaining calm, following established safety protocols, listening to the instructions of teachers and designated school personnel, and prioritizing the safety and protection of all learners and personnel.
During the drill, teachers guided their learners in following the prescribed emergency response procedures. Learners were reminded to remain quiet, stay in a safe and secure location, and avoid unnecessary movement while waiting for further instructions. Teachers also accounted for their learners and ensured that appropriate safety measures were observed throughout the activity.
The conduct of the drill provided an opportunity for the school to assess the readiness and coordination of its personnel and learners in responding to an emergency situation. It also helped reinforce the importance of preparedness, discipline, cooperation, and awareness among members of the school community.
Overall, the activity was successfully conducted and served as a valuable learning experience for everyone involved. It strengthened the school community’s awareness of emergency procedures and highlighted the need for continuous preparedness and regular safety drills.
Objectives
The activity was conducted to:
Increase awareness of learners and school personnel regarding appropriate responses to an active attack incident.
Practice established school emergency and safety procedures.
Develop learners’ ability to remain calm and follow safety instructions during emergencies.
Strengthen coordination and communication among teachers, school personnel, and learners.

The learners of Matyag Elementary School gratefully received school supplies through the ABE Project (Angat Bataraza Education), a significant educational initiative established by former Municipal Mayor Hon. Abraham M. Ibba and now steadfastly continued under the leadership of Municipal Mayor Hon. Al-Shariff W. Ibba. This initiative reflects the local government's enduring commitment to advancing quality education and ensuring that every learner is equipped with essential learning materials.
Matyag Elementary School conveys its sincere appreciation to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) Office, under the leadership of Sir Tirso P. Segundo, for its invaluable support and assistance in the successful implementation of this program. Likewise, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the representative of Barangay Inogbong, Hon. Cathlyn Gene Colendres, for the unwavering support and presence throughout the activity.
The school remains deeply grateful for the continued partnership and generosity of all stakeholders whose collective efforts contribute significantly to the welfare, development, and academic success of our learners.
