What happened yesterday?

When you learn something new, your brain physically changes its structure and organization through a process called neuroplasticity. Neurons form fresh connections, existing pathways grow stronger or weaker, and chemical signals shift how brain regions talk to one another.

πŸ“’ RESPONSIBLE INFORMATION SHARING DURING MASS TRAGEDIES

A Quick Reference Guide for Media Practitioners and the General Public

In the aftermath of a tragedy, how information is shared can either support community recovery or unintentionally worsen trauma and trigger violence contagion.

Newsrooms set the narrative, but every social media user controls its spread.

The Psychological Association of the Philippines - Clinical Psychology Division shares this Quick Reference Guide to help foster safety, responsibility, and trauma-informed communication across all platforms.

🧠 QUICK TAKEAWAYS:

🚫 Deny Perpetrators Infamy: Limit names, photos, and manifestos to prevent the contagion effect.

🧩 Look at Systemic Causes: Focus on structural gaps rather than single, oversimplified motives.

πŸ›‘οΈ Protect Survivors: Honor human dignity, practice informed consent, and respect privacy.

πŸ’š Highlight Recovery & Support: Amplify crisis helplines, support services, and community resilience.
