🎗️ Ninoy Aquino Day: Memory, Truth, and Democracy
On August 21, 1983, Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. returned home with a steadfast conviction that change was possible through peaceful courage. His martyrdom served as an awakening for a nation seeking freedom.
As the Historian Circle, our duty is to ensure that the facts of our shared history remain accurate, accessible, and contextualized. History is not merely a record of past events—it is a mirror through which we evaluate our present values.
-Reflect: Read primary sources and documented accounts from 1983 and the decades leading up to EDSA.
-Engage: Discuss the role of civic courage in shaping democratic institutions.
-Preserve: Stand against historical revisionism by grounding discussions in verified history.
