Naaalala niyo pa ba kung paano nauso ang "Artista Names" ng ABMC'12? :D

Artista Academy '12 28/11/2012

In 1994, Lee Kuan Yew, (the first Prime Minister of Singapore) said, “Culture is Destiny.” Your culture, or set of beliefs, will be your destiny. If you believe you are a failure, you will be a failure. If you believe you can, you can. If you want to become great, you must build a culture of greatness! These are the same words taken from the book of Alexander Lacson, “12 Little Things Every Filipino can do to Help our Country.” According to Lee Kwan Yew, a people’s culture will determine the destiny of that people. Simply put, we are the BUILDERS of our GREATNESS! The same principle that I have been telling you for the past four years, that to become a Mass Com student of LPU one needs to be World class! No doubt, you were able to imbibe the idea seriously and learn to live with it in so many ways. Needless to say, you have created your own model translated as: Magaling, Mayabang, Mayaman at Mabait which made your batch highly competitive, simply famous and equally controversial. In retrospect, I still can vividly recall the moment I first met your class in History at ANAPREL 110. You are all promising then and still manage to participate actively in class despite the fact that HISTORY is not your major subject. Then we had our first ever educational field trip in Bulacan where we all enjoyed the sceneries and treasure every single itinerary in that journey particularly the trekking part on our way to Biak-na-Bato. Finally, your first encounter with me as your professor in a major subject was in Radio and Television Principles and Practices, where you had your first taste of Production doing your FM production, Slice of Life, AVP and by the succeeding semesters, you were already producing short films and music videos. However, the most challenging part of all was when we decided to produce a theatrical adaptation of GLEE ON STAGE in the occasion of AB Drama Club’s 10th year anniversary. I must admit, it remains to be one of the most ambitious projects we ever had considering that it was the first musical adaptation of a Fox’s hit series in the Philippines, and perhaps in the world. Not only that, we were able to consolidate all the 40+ episodes of season 1 into a one act play filled with interesting scenes, comic acts and awesome production numbers. And to top it all, we were able to use state of the art facilities including the 9 x 12 L.E.D. during the play which I thought in the beginning would be impossible to happen and would forever remain a dream. In addition, during the 2011 CALABARZON Mass Comm Convention, you manage to produce a variety show equipped with three cam operation and the latest sound and lighting equipment just like in the industry. Later after that convention, you were still able to organize an advance screening of your respective short films which is somewhat close to what we experienced during the CINEMALAYA film fest @ CPP. More so, you made us even more proud when your batch grabbed the best film award @ the RIZAL FILM FEST sponsored by the Batangas City Government and then a finalist in that same category in the recently concluded PELIKULTURA of UP Los Banos. Indeed, the culture of excellence has been a tradition in the College of Education, Arts & Sciences and is being cultivated further by your professors in the Mass Communication Department. Who would ever forget all the learning and trainings you’ve had with Mam Tet in your MANIOBRA, Media Pages and Thesis Writing, the Advertising Projects, Film Critiques and Live Reporting with Mam Martinez, the Media Plan with Mam Bevs, the Dev com Short Films and Media Scripts with Sir Cabatic, the cases to be submitted to Mam Palay and Mam Mauhay, the editing sessions with Andoy, Dashi, Kuya Jo and Tupe and of course the “unkabogable” experiences in your OJT- going to ABSCBN with me, attending press conference, visiting MPD and WPD just to get a news, dealing with monstrous people in the production, rude reporters, sleepless nights, on location shoots and tapings and the friendly “spirits” at FRANCESCA CONDO? More so, let us not forget the mighty and innovative GE teachers that provided you with holistic education and proper values necessary to become productive and responsible citizens of the world. They are only few of those people who have brought the excellence and greatness in you and at the same time, they were also the ones who made you laugh and cry and challenged you in so many ways all these years. But amidst this excellence and greatness you have demonstrated all throughout your stay in LPU, I just hope that you continue seeing more opportunities to improve and develop your knowledge, skills and values as a future media practicioner. True enough, you may be successful in all of your endeavors in life but at the end of the day what matters most is still your character as a person – that in greatness your can able to see your weakness, and through your weakness you are humbled to strive harder and continuously move forward and be on top! In this Dedication ceremony, we are all reminded to count all our blessings and thank all those who have become instrumental in bringing the best in us and making what we are right now. To the graduates, this is the time to thank your dear teachers and fellow classmates who have been your second family already and your Alma Mater, LPU as your second home. Finally, thank your family, for without their love, support and inspiration you will never find the right path towards excellence and greatness. After all, being able to look back and find one’s roots are the hallmarks of great and successful people. To ABMC IV Batch 2012, allow me to call you with your pseudonyms (A.K.A) to remind us of the many things we have gone through the years and the funny moments we’ve shared in class and outside our comfort zones: Chingkee Pacquiao April Joy Regino Vanessa del Moran Sheila Mariz Sayson Julie Ann Santos Armyr Abrenica Roibie Paolo Avelino Guno Mars Aiko Melendez 10.
