Batangas State University, through the Office of the Vice President for Development and External Affairs (OVPDEA), participated as a signatory in the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing Ceremony for the Microcredentials on Semiconductor Program led by the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) at Ang Bahay ng Alumni, UP Diliman, May 12.

The ceremonial signing officially welcomed the second batch of partner institutions to the Taiwan Semiconductor Consortium, marking another milestone in strengthening collaboration among higher education institutions, government agencies, and industry stakeholders from the Philippines and Taiwan.

As a signatory to the agreement, Batangas State University reaffirmed its commitment to internationalization, innovation, and industry-academe collaboration. Through its participation in the consortium, the University continued to support the development of future-ready Filipino professionals equipped to contribute to the growth and competitiveness of the rapidly evolving semiconductor industry.

Batangas State University, The National Engineering University (BatStateU The NEU) successfully conducted Day 1 of its two-part Capacity-Building Program on Transnational Education (TNE), gathering academic leaders to strengthen institutional readiness for global academic engagement, April 29.

“𝘏𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴,“ said Ms. Lotus Postrado, Country Director of The British Council Philippine in her keynote address discussing 𝘎𝘭𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘻𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘌𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯: 𝘖𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴, 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘤 𝘋𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘗𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘱𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘚𝘜𝘊𝘴, emphasizing the shifting global education landscape and the need for Philippine higher education institutions to take a more strategic role in international collaboration.

Building on this, Dr. Christine Ferrer of the Commission on Higher Education - International Affairs Services led Session 1 by outlining the CHED Policy Framework on TNE, followed by Atty. Ednalyn Grace Viste in Session 2, who examined TNE models and laws, highlighting key legal and structural considerations for program delivery.

The program concluded with a session on Best Practices and Lessons Learned in TNE Delivery and an Open Forum, where participants explored practical insights and real-world approaches, effectively synthesizing the day’s discussions and strengthening their readiness for TNE implementation.

As the first part of the series concluded, the activity sets the foundation for deeper engagement in TNE planning and ex*****on. The continuation of this capacity-building program on April 30 is expected to further equip academic units with the tools and strategies needed to advance the University’s transnational education initiatives.
