Transition to Online Learning Setup on August 18-20, 2026

Due to heavy rainfall from the enhanced Southwest Monsoon and widespread flooding across Luzon and announcement from the local government of Batangas City of transition to alternative learning modality, the campus will transition to online learning from August 18 to 20, 2026.

Grade 12 students needing to conduct laboratory research due to perishable materials must submit a request letter to the Office of the Campus Director. The letter requires signatures from a guardian, the research teacher, the research adviser, and the CID Chief.

Interns are to check out of the residence halls by 12:00 PM tomorrow.

This memorandum shall supersede the instructions communicated through OCD Memo No. 016, s. 2026 and CID Memo No. 007, s. 2026.

In line with Presidential Memorandum Circular No. 128, faculty and non-teaching personnel may adopt alternative working arrangements on August 18, 2026 (Wednesday), subject to endorsement by their division chiefs and submission of an Individual Commitment and Task Report (ICTR) upon return.

Additionally, during the online learning period on August 19–20, 2026, faculty members may adopt alternative working arrangements upon submitting an approved ICTR.

Due to recent online shifts, the campus is considering holding make-up sessions, particularly for laboratory classes, every Friday afternoon.

Transition to Online Learning Setup on August 18, 2026

Following the directive from the Local Government Unit of Batangas City, through the recommendation of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), classes will transition to an online learning setup tomorrow, August 18, 2026.

During this period, faculty and non-teaching personnel may request work-from-home arrangements, subject to approval of their proposed Individual Commitment and Task Report (ICTR) and submission of the implemented ICTR upon return to campus. Half-day WFH arrangements shall not be allowed under this provision.

Pisay scholars bring home two bronze medals from the International Nuclear Science Olympiad ☢

JEDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA — Two Philippine Science High School (PSHS) scholars brought home bronze medals for the Philippines from the 3rd International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO), held from August 2 to 9, 2026.

Ivan Gerard S. Empizo of PSHS–Cordillera Administrative Region Campus (CARC) in Baguio City and Magnus Rex Navarro of PSHS–Main Campus (MC) in Diliman, Quezon City earned bronze medals as part of the Philippine delegation that competed against young nuclear science talents from 19 countries.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), organizer of the event, reported that 60 students participated in this year's Olympiad, which concluded with eight gold, 13 silver, and 18 bronze medals awarded. The competition tested students through theoretical and experimental examinations covering atomic and nuclear structure, radiation, fission and fusion, radiation safety, and the peaceful applications of nuclear science and technology.

Empizo and Navarro were among the Pisay scholars who earned their places in the Philippine delegation following the 3rd Philippine Nuclear Science Olympiad (PNSO) organized by the Department of Science and Technology–Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (DOST-PNRI).

During the national competition held on April 22, Empizo emerged as the country's top performer, while Navarro placed fourth. The PNSO field of 81 students was narrowed down to 20 finalists who underwent a Nuclear Science Training Program before competing in the final round.

Joining the Philippine delegation in Jeddah were fellow Pisay scholars Clara Canta of PSHS–Eastern Visayas Campus (EVC) in Leyte, Francis Ian Oliver Corachea of PSHS–CALABARZON Region Campus in Batangas City, and Lorenzo Mercado of PSHS–Central Luzon Campus (CLC) in Clark Freeport Zone who served as a reserve member of the national team for INSO.

The PSHS System extends its appreciation to DOST-PNRI experts Dr. Mon Bryan Gili and Mr. Art Marcelo Andallo II for guiding and preparing the students for the international competition. The System likewise thanks Ms. Ana Elena Conjares, IAEA Consultant; Dr. Alvie Astronomo, member of the INSO 2026 Scientific Committee; and Mr. Jay Carl Agbay of PSHS–Central Mindanao Campus (CMC) in Lanao del Norte, member of the INSO 2026 Steering Committee, for their contributions and support to the Philippine delegation and the country’s participation in INSO 2026.

INSO provides secondary-school students with opportunities to deepen their understanding of nuclear science and its peaceful applications in areas such as health, food and agriculture, water resource management, environmental protection, and energy. The IAEA supports the Olympiad through a regional technical cooperation project aimed at promoting interest in nuclear science and developing future human resources in the field.

The Philippines has played an important role in the development of the international competition, having hosted the inaugural INSO in 2024. Malaysia hosted the second edition in 2025 before the competition moved to Saudi Arabia this year.

For Empizo and Navarro, the international medals build on a journey that began at the national level and culminated on the global stage. This feat shows the growing capability of young Filipino scientists in a highly specialized field.

Building on achievements such as these, the DOST-PSHS System continues to nurture young Filipino scientists through opportunities, training, and mentorship, preparing them to excel globally and contribute to nation-building.

Hannah Gabrielle E. Garcia of Batch 2026 - Alindanaw was recognized as one of the recipients of the Mga Natatanging Mag-aaral ng Lungsod ng Batangas (MNMLB) and the Youth Leadership Excellence Award during a ceremony held on June 27, 2026, at the Batangas City Convention Center.

The MNMLB recognition program honors exemplary students in Batangas City who demonstrate outstanding achievement in academic, leadership, and community service, serving as role models and embodying the values of the Batangueño youth.
