Camandingan Elementary School Holds First School Governance Council Meeting and Elections

Camandingan Elementary School (CES) officially organized its School Governance Council (SGC) during its first meeting and election of officers on August 19, 2026, bringing together school and community stakeholders to strengthen shared responsibility in school governance and improvement.

The meeting opened with an orientation led by the School Head, who served as Interim Presiding Officer. Council members were briefed on the functions of the SGC and their respective roles and responsibilities. Mrs. Marlene Castillo, a CES alumna and former teaching personnel, was elected Co-Chairperson, while Mrs. Michelle Joy Dalan, Child Protection Committee Coordinator and CES alumna, was elected Secretary.

The School Head also presented the school’s School Improvement Plan (SIP), including its priority improvement areas, to guide the council in identifying areas where stakeholder support and collective action are most needed. Through a resolution, the SGC formally adopted and expressed its support for the SIP, with the identified priority improvement areas serving as the council’s main areas of focus and action for the school year.

The newly elected council members were also presented with Certificates of Membership in recognition of their commitment to serving the school community. The council likewise agreed on its meeting schedule for the school year to ensure regular consultation, coordination, and monitoring of its plans and activities.

Voting members present during the meeting were Mrs. Gilda Acosta, CESEA President; Ms. Maxene Castillo, SELG President; Mrs. Girlie Ucol, Designated Co-Chairperson; Hon. Daniel Saclayan, Chair of the Committee on Education; Atty. John Gabrielle Dominique “Jojo” Daguio, Chair of the Committee on Education-CGB; and Mrs. Elma Rocutan, SPTA President. Other voting members were unable to attend due to previously scheduled activities.

With the SGC now organized and its priority areas established, CES looks forward to working closely with its stakeholders in addressing identified school needs, supporting learners, and turning the SIP priorities into concrete and meaningful actions for the school community.
