Displaying stellar intellect and unwavering composure under pressure, two powerhouse delegations from the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) Department of Civil Engineering stamped their class on the regional stage, finishing strong inside the top 15 out of 81 competing teams in the recently concluded Megachallenge 2026: Civil Engineering Quiz Show โ Luzon-Wide.
Held virtually via Zoom on September 26, 2026, and organized by the MegaReview Tutorial Center, the high-stakes intellectual showdown gathered 206 elite student contenders representing 42 top-tier schools and universities across Luzon.
Weaving through a punishing three-stage formatโthe Momentum Challenge, the Accuracy Challenge, and the high-pressure Speed and Accuracy Challengeโthe MMSU representatives navigated grueling technical hurdles marked by a stringent right-minus-wrong scoring system. Despite the tight margins and intense competition, the universityโs bets proved that Ilocano excellence transcends digital arenas.
MMSU Team B, composed of fourth-year BSCE student Reyjon R. Gapusan and third-year BSCE standout Wesley A. Batara, blazed a trail by securing an impressive 11th place overall under the coaching of Engr. Jansen A. Yere. Hot on their heels was MMSU Team A, powered by BSCE fourth-year students Justine Jake A. Aguate and John Florence B. Salvador, who locked down the 12th spot under the mentorship of coach Engr. Melissa A. Pungtilan.
The Department of Civil Engineering commended Aguate, Salvador, Gapusan, and Batara for representing MMSU with determination and pride, noting that their remarkable finish highlights the institution's commitment to academic excellence.
