Researchers from the Gen. Artemio Ricarte Senior High School successfully defended their basic research proposals on relevant topics shaping the current educational landscape, held at SDO City of Batac, August 12.

Mental Health, Students’ exit pathways, Homeroom Guidance program and study of aspects of the new curriculum are among the topics presented before panel of experts who critiqued on the different topics’ projected contribution to the academic development.

This undertaking demonstrates dedication and commitment to the twofold role of guiding students while exploring better ways on improved teaching and learning process.

Ang Pambansang Komisyon para sa Kultura at mga Sining ay nakikiisa sa pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa na may temang “𝐖𝐢𝐤𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐈: 𝐊𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐤𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐬𝐢𝐤 𝐚𝐭 𝐓𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐬𝐚 𝐘𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐲𝐨𝐧.”

Kinikilala ng tema ng Buwan ng Wika 2026 ang magkaugnay na papel ng wikang Filipino at artificial intelligence (AI) para sa makabansang gawain ng pananaliksik. Panawagan ito para sa responsableng paggamit ng AI habang tinitiyak na may makabuluhang espasyo ang Wikang Pambansa sa mga usaping may kinalaman sa mga umuusbong na teknolohiya at kaugnay na usaping pang-etika rito.

Ang Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa ay idinaraos tuwing Buwan ng Agosto alinsunod sa Proklamasyon Blg. 1041 na nilagdaan noong 1997.

More than three years after his term in office ended, former student leader Mark Angelo A. Baga continued his commitment to public service by leading a donation drive that raised ₱34,250 for vendors affected by the Batac Public Market fire.

Baga, a third-year Nursing student at the College of Health Sciences of Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU), initiated the donation drive together with the former General Artemio Ricarte Senior High School (GARSHS) SSLG officers. Formerly serving as Division Federated Supreme Secondary Learner Government (DFSSLG) President of the Schools Division Office of Batac for School Year 2023–2024, he led the initiative, which gathered support from former student leaders, youth organizations, and members of the community following the fire that damaged the Batac Public Market last July 5.

Coming from a family of public market vendors, Baga said the initiative was driven by his desire to help families whose livelihoods were affected by the incident. Through a Facebook post, he called on fellow student leaders, youth organizations, and members of the public to extend financial assistance. He also assured donors that every contribution would be handled with transparency and accountability and would reach the intended beneficiaries.

After turning over the collected donations to the City Government of Batac (CGB) on July 30, Baga thanked everyone who supported the initiative and reflected on the trust that donors continued to place in their former student leaders. “𝙏𝙧𝙪𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙚𝙣𝙙 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙖 𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨. 𝙄𝙩 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚, 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙜𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙮, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙪𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙧𝙣 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙨,” Baga wrote.

The initiative was later acknowledged by the CGB through its official page, recognizing the donation drive as one of the community-led efforts that helped vendors affected by the fire recover and rebuild.

𝐏𝐀𝐆𝐆𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐓𝐀 𝐊𝐀𝐘 𝐇𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐋 𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐄𝐌𝐈𝐎 𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐄: 𝐀𝐍𝐆 ’𝐕𝐈𝐁𝐎𝐑𝐀’ 𝐍𝐆 𝐇𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐆𝐒𝐈𝐊𝐀𝐍

Sa ika-81 anibersaryo ng pagkamatay ni Heneral Artemio Ricarte, ginugunita ang buhay ng isang g**o, rebolusyonaryo at pinunong militar na kinilala sa kaniyang matibay na paninindigan para sa kalayaan ng Pilipinas.

Isinilang si Ricarte noong Okt. 20, 1866, sa Batac, Ilocos Norte. Bago siya naging mahalagang bahagi ng Himagsikang Pilipino, nagsimula siya bilang g**o at nagsilbi bilang pinuno ng paaralang primarya sa San Francisco de Malabon, na ngayon ay General Trias, Cavite. Doon siya napalapit sa kilusang rebolusyonaryo at kalauna’y naging kasapi ng Katipunan.

Sa Tejeros Convention noong 1897, hinirang si Ricarte bilang Kapitan Heneral ng pamahalaang rebolusyonaryo. Dahil sa kaniyang papel sa pagtatatag at pamumuno sa hukbong rebolusyonaryo, kinilala siya bilang “Ama ng Hukbong Katihan ng Pilipinas.” Nakilala rin siya sa alyas na “Vibora,” sagisag ng kaniyang tapang at matatag na disposisyon sa harap ng tunggalian.

Isa sa pinakamatingkad na bahagi ng kaniyang buhay ang pagtanggi niyang manumpa ng katapatan sa pamahalaang Amerikano matapos sakupin ng Estados Unidos ang Pilipinas. Ang paninindigang ito ang nagbunsod sa kaniyang pagkakakulong, pagkakatapon sa Guam, at paninirahan sa ibang bansa, kabilang ang Hong Kong at Japan.

Sa kabila ng mahabang pagkakalayo sa sariling bayan, nanatiling nakaugnay ang pangalan ni Heneral Ricarte sa kasaysayan ng pakikibaka ng mga Pilipino para sa kasarinlan. Ang kaniyang buhay ay patuloy na inaalala bilang halimbawa ng katapangan, disiplina at paninindigan sa harap ng malalaking pagsubok.

Pumanaw si Heneral Ricarte noong Hulyo 31, 1945, sa edad na 78. Sa paggunita sa kaniyang ambag, nananatili ang kaniyang pangalan bilang paalala sa mga Pilipino na ang kalayaan ay hindi lamang minamana, kundi pinangangalagaan sa pamamagitan ng tapat na paglilingkod at matibay na prinsipyo.
