MMSU-American Corner Batac MMSU-American Corner Batac It was formally inaugurated on January 14, 1985 with Mr. Herwald H.

The American Corner (known as American Studies Resource Center) at the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) was initially established in 1984. Morton, Director, United States Information Service (USIS) and Counselor of teh Embassy for Public Affairs, as guest of honor. The MMSU-American Corner (AC) is the center for Northern Luzon with 14 other centers located in strategic regions in the country. The MMSU-AC is housed at the first floor, northwestern wing of the MMSU Main Library.

π—œπ—‘ 𝗣𝗛𝗒𝗧𝗒𝗦 | Interested students recently took part in the application and interview process for the Student Associates Mobilization (SAM) volunteer group at the American Corner.

The applicants were interviewed by American Corner Program Coordinator Ms. Charie Kaye F. Colar as part of the selection process.

Through SAM, students will have the opportunity to volunteer, participate in activities, and help promote the programs and initiatives of the American Corner.

The American Corner (AC) Batac joined the MMSU FulbrighTREES to SUCCEED activity on August 1, 2026, in Bangui, Ilocos Norte, in celebration of the Fulbright Program’s 80th anniversary and the Fulbright Global Day of Service.

The activity brought together MMSU officials, Fulbright scholars and alumni, the Local Government Unit of Bangui, Bangui National High School, the Rotary Club of Laoag Sunshine, AC Batac, and community volunteers for a day of service that included planting 80 Agoho treesβ€”one for each year of the Fulbright Program.

Participants also took part in a learning session led by the MMSU Department of Forestry, adding an educational component to the community activity.

Through the Fulbright Global Day of Service, scholars, alumni, schools, organizations, and local communities came together to celebrate 80 years of Fulbright by giving back, building connections, and strengthening community partnerships.

As part of its week-long Football World Cup 2026 Celebration under the Freedom250 Program, American Corner (AC) Batac hosted a Final Match Watch Party featuring the championship match between Spain and Argentina.

The event gathered 118 participants, including members of the University's football and futsal teams, coaches, faculty, staff, and students from various colleges. To allow more members of the university community to experience the excitement of the tournament, the championship match replay was shown continuously throughout the day. Participants also enjoyed the free popcorn and juice, creating a fun and festive environment.

More than a viewing event, the watch party celebrated the spirit of the Football World Cup by promoting sportsmanship, cultural exchange, teamwork, and community engagement. Through activities such as this, AC Batac continues to provide meaningful opportunities that bring people together while promoting global awareness and intercultural understanding.

AC Batac extends its sincere appreciation to everyone who participated and contributed to the success of the said event.

On July 22, 2026, the American Corner Batac successfully conducted an Alumni Talk featuring the topic "Fourth of July" at the American Corner, Main Library, Mariano Marcos State University. The activity was organized as part of the Freedom250 celebration, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.

Dr. Dexter A. Adriatico, a Study of the United States Institutes (SUSI) alumnus, served as the resource speaker. He shared valuable insights on the historical significance of the Fourth of July and highlighted the enduring values of freedom, democracy, and civic engagement that continue to shape American society. The session was attended by 70 students from the AB Sociology and AB English Language programs, who actively participated in the discussion and open forum.

American Corner Batac extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Adriatico for sharing his expertise, to Prof. Leslie Kay R. Corpuz for her support, and to the University Library System for its continued commitment to educational and cultural programming.

Through meaningful learning opportunities such as this Alumni Talk, American Corner Batac continues to foster cultural understanding, encourage global perspectives, and strengthen academic engagement within the university community.

On July 15, 2026, American Corner Batac joined Stallions Stride: Panagsarabo 2026 Student Booths, introducing its Student Associates Mobilization (SAM) Volunteer Program to first-year students and the campus community.

Students who visited the booth participated in U.S.-themed trivia games, won prizes, and learned more about the American Corner's programs on education, cultural exchange, leadership, and community engagement.

The activity encouraged students to become future SAM volunteers and take part in meaningful campus initiatives. AC Batac looks forward to welcoming a new generation of passionate student leaders!

American Corner (AC) Batac and AC Iloilo officially launched their Football World Cup 2026 Celebration through a hybrid opening program on July 13, 2026.

The event featured a "Meet the Experts" panel discussion with football and futsal professionals, including Mr. Michael Kevin Goco and Engr. Marc Hermel G. Agriam of Central Philippine University (CPU), as well as Dr. James Paul T. Madigal and Dr. Robert A. Salvador of Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU). The panelists shared their expertise on sports development, coaching, and the significance of the FIFA World Cup, offering insights into the participating teams, the tournament's global influence, and its role in fostering unity and cultural exchange through sports.

The program commenced with welcome messages from Dr. Ma. Cynthia T. PeleΓ±a, Director of AC Iloilo, and Ms. Maria Cristeta R. Llacuna, Director of AC Batac. Eleven personnel from the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) University Library System (ULS) and 50 students from Central Philippine University (CPU) participated in the event virtually via Zoom.

The activity underscored the strong partnership between the two American Corners in promoting leadership, teamwork, cultural exchange, and sportsmanship through the platform of sports diplomacy.
