MQES DRRM Best Practices: A Benchmarking Visit from SDO Vigan City
Maipalig-Quiom Elementary School (MQES) was truly honored to welcome the representatives of the Schools Division Office of Vigan City for a Benchmarking Activity on DRRM Best Practices on August 14, 2026.
The activity served as a meaningful avenue for sharing MQES’ experiences, initiatives, and practices in strengthening disaster preparedness, risk reduction, response, and school resilience. More than simply showcasing what we do, the benchmarking became an opportunity to learn from one another, exchange ideas, and strengthen our collective commitment to creating safer, more prepared, and more resilient schools.
At the heart of this effort is our MQES DRRM Coordinator, Mr. Renato R. Quiocho Jr., Teacher VI, whose dedication, leadership, and commitment to DRRM significantly contributed to the school’s preparedness and to the successful conduct of the benchmarking activity. His efforts, together with the support of the entire MQES community, reflect our continuing commitment to strengthening a culture of safety and resilience.
As part of the activity, a Tree Planting Activity was also conducted, highlighting our shared responsibility to care for our environment while building a safer and more sustainable community.
This successful benchmarking activity would not have been possible without the collective effort and support of the entire MQES community and its partners. Our heartfelt appreciation goes to our School Principal, Sir Ryan C. Ramos, for his leadership and guidance in ensuring the school’s readiness for this important activity.
We also extend our sincerest gratitude to our SPTA Officers, all parents, teachers, and learners of MQES, whose cooperation, time, effort, and support were instrumental in preparing the school and sustaining its readiness from the days of preparation until the actual day of the benchmarking activity.
Our warmest thanks as well to the Barangay Officials of Quiom and Maipalig and all our other stakeholders and partners who extended their assistance and support. Your commitment and partnership truly demonstrate the power of a community united for the safety, welfare, and development of our learners.
We likewise express our deepest gratitude to SDS Anselmo R. Aludino, SDO DRRM Coordinator Rhaian Gamet, and the whole Schools Division Office of Batac for their continued support and for giving Maipalig-Quiom Elementary School the opportunity to be one of the schools benchmarked. Your trust and recognition inspire us to continuously strengthen our DRRM practices and share our experiences with others.
To our colleagues from SDO Vigan City, thank you for choosing MQES as part of your benchmarking journey. May this experience serve as a bridge for continued collaboration, learning, and sharing of best practices toward stronger, safer, and more resilient schools.
From preparation to participation, this achievement is a reflection of what we can accomplish when the whole school and community work together.
Together, we prepare. Together, we protect. Together, we build a safer and more resilient community.
