The Department of Physical Therapy College of Health Sciences of MMSU conducted a comprehensive Physical Therapy Extension activity at FCIS-ILRC in Vintar, Ilocos Norte. The outreach featured Project REACH’s Activity CHAIN and Activity PT CAMP, alongside Project CARE’s Activity SCHOOLiosis, successfully training school personnel, raising student disability awareness, and screening young learners for spinal health.

Project REACH
Activity CHAIN: Delivered an emergency response and first aid training workshop for Special Education (SPED) teachers and school staff.

Activity PT CAMP: Hosted an interactive educational seminar on disability inclusivity and rehabilitation careers for senior high school students.

Project CARE
Activity SCHOOLiosis: Performed a targeted scoliosis screening for Grade 5 and Grade 6 students to ensure early detection and promote proper posture habits.

In celebration of the 48th National Disability Rights Week 2026, the faculty and students of the Department of Physical Therapy, in proud collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of San Nicolas, successfully hosted an inspiring Awareness Talk dedicated to our Persons with Disabilities (PWD) community. Anchored on this year's national theme: "Rights First, Legislation Forward: Strategic Action for Equal Participation and Inclusive Development," our gathering focused on:
⚖️ Understanding Your Rights: A comprehensive guide to PWD privileges, benefits, and protective laws in the community.
💪 Recognizing Strengths & Building Confidence: Motivational sessions that highlighted unique talents, resilience, and personal growth.
🤝 Inspiring Positive Change: Fostering a more inclusive, barrier-free, and supportive environment here in San Nicolas. We believe that true inclusion begins with respect and advocacy.
