CAFSD Dean Charlie Batin urged newly elected student leaders to prioritize service to all students as they took their oath of office during an induction ceremony held at the University Student Center on July 27.

Addressing the newly inducted officers, Batin reminded them that leadership extends beyond holding positions and carries the responsibility of representing the interests and welfare of the student body.

"Always remember, as officers of the College of Agriculture, Food, and Sustainable Development (CAFSD), your roles matter. No student should be left behind, and let's make sure every student is seen, heard, and represented," Batin said.

Officers of various CAFSD student organizations from the Batac Campus formally took their oath during the ceremony.

He also encouraged the newly inducted leaders to maximize their positions and create a positive impact within the university community.

Reinforcing his call for proactive leadership, Batin said, “𝘛𝘪 𝘊𝘈𝘍𝘚𝘋 𝘴𝘢𝘢𝘯 𝘯𝘨𝘢 𝘢𝘨𝘱𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘶𝘥𝘪, 𝘬𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘪 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘯-𝘺𝘰 𝘬𝘦𝘵 𝘴𝘢𝘢𝘯 𝘮𝘦𝘵 𝘯𝘨𝘢 𝘢𝘨𝘱𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘶𝘥𝘪.” (CAFSD does not settle for less, and neither does your dean.)

The oath-taking ceremony marked the official assumption of office of CAFSD student leaders, entrusting them with the responsibility of serving their constituents and upholding the values of leadership, accountability, and service throughout their term.

Student Council (SC) President Hannah Sophia Molina, a third-year Bachelor of Science in Agriculture student, outlined her administration's priorities centered on student identity, wellness, and participation during her inaugural address following the College of Agriculture, Food and Sustainable Development (CAFSD) induction ceremony held at the University Student Center on July 27.

Addressing students, faculty members, and fellow student leaders, Molina said her administration aims to strengthen unity and encourage greater student involvement in college affairs.

To strengthen student identity, Molina introduced the proposed CAFSD Uniform, which aims to foster pride, unity, and a stronger sense of belonging among students.

She also presented Peer Facilitator Relevance, a program designed to enhance the college's peer support system by promoting mental health awareness, personal development, and student wellness through trained peer facilitators.

In addition, Molina launched Project AKO, IKAW, GALAW, a leadership initiative that encourages active participation and shared responsibility within the college community.

According to Molina, AKO promotes active leadership among student officers, IKAW encourages meaningful student involvement in governance and campus activities, while GALAW emphasizes transforming ideas into concrete actions that benefit the CAFSD community.

The newly elected SC president said the initiatives reflect her administration's commitment to building a more inclusive, engaged, and student-centered college community for Academic Year 2026–2027.

The CAFSD Tamaraw Freshies joined fellow first-year students from across the university in Stallions Stride: Panagsarabo 2026, held as part of the University's welcome activities for incoming students.

The event served as a symbolic start to their academic journey, bringing together freshmen from various colleges in a celebration of unity, school spirit, and new beginnings. Through the activity, students were formally welcomed into the MMSU community and encouraged to embrace the opportunities and responsibilities that come with university life.

As the newest members of the CAFSD family, the Tamaraw Freshies took their first stride toward a meaningful and transformative college experience.
