One thing I learned the hard way:
not all clients mean what they say in the same way.
Hereโs my POV ๐
An American client will usually be super direct.
If they donโt like something, theyโll just tell you.
At first it feels harsh, but reallyโฆ
it saves time.
A UK client?
Totally different.
Theyโll say, โThatโs quite good,โ and you might think itโs praise.
In reality, it means โTry harder.โ
Theyโre polite, but you have to read between the lines.
And then Aussies.
Theyโre funny, relaxed, and casual.
Theyโll throw in โlooks good, mateโ or โno worries,โ and it feels like youโre talking to a friend.
But donโt get too comfy.
They still expect you to deliver on time.
Chinese clients are straightforward too!
They value results and efficiency.
If they donโt like something, theyโll tell you plain and quick without flowery explanations.
The more I worked with them, the more I understood:
picking up the tone behind their words is just as important as hearing the words themselves.
Clients might come from different cultures,
but if you learn how they really communicate,
youโll avoid misunderstandingsโฆ
and build stronger relationships.
