When I look back at my time at ISCC from 2015 to 2019, I realize that it was more than just a
chapter in my education. During my college years, I was a typical student - persistent, driven
but also full of uncertainties. At first, I didn’t really know where I was headed or what the
future had in store for me. I simply knew that I wanted to finish my degree, build a better future,
and make my family proud. Looking back, I realize that not having everything figured out was
part of the journey.
I was often involved as class officer and sometime as class leader. Some of my fondest
memories were the simple moments in the computer laboratory—learning, working on
activities, and laughing together with my classmates. The experiences, relationships, and
lessons I gained from ISCC became more than just an education. I see them as a box of
knowledge and experiences that I carry with me wherever I go. Even years after graduating, I
can still open that “box” whenever I need to remember the lessons, skills, and values that were
taught to me.
I am especially grateful to our mentors, Ma’am Eulaine, Sir Abby, Sir Alfie and many more,
whose guidance and words continue to stay with me. I remember some of them quoted, like
“Choice comes first before destiny,” “Just feel the pain until it hurts no more,” and “Don’t
stop until you’re proud”, that have been etched in my mind and continue to guide me today.
I came from a less privileged family, and my parents worked hard to send me to college. As
the youngest of five siblings and the first to earn a bachelor’s degree, graduating was already a
meaningful achievement for my family. After graduation, my journey was not a straight path.
I was able to pass both the Civil Service Professional and Sub-Professional examinations
shortly after college. I then took on different jobs and opportunities. I worked as a parcel
dispatcher, finance clerk, and layout artist before eventually finding my place as an IT and
Marketing Specialist in Dubai, UAE. I know that I’m carrying not only my own dreams, but
also the dreams of my sisters, they once had too.
ISCC gave me more than a degree. It gave me a credential and professional grit, the eagerness
to pursue something better. Today, I am proud to use the skills I learned at ISCC while working
abroad—creating marketing materials, social media advertisements, LED screen videos, and
other designs that help our company grow and become more recognized.
Finishing activities, meeting deadlines, and completing my thesis—felt difficult at the time.
But those experiences taught me perseverance, patience, and responsibility. Now, I realize they
were preparing me for much bigger challenges beyond the campus.
To the students of my alma mater, I want you to know that you do not have to have everything
figured out yet. I was once where you are—with dreams, uncertainties, and no clear idea of
where my little steps would take me. Dream beyond what feels familiar, keep going even when
things get difficult, and always pray to God, ask for His wisdom. One day, you may look back
and realize that the small steps you are taking today were the beginning of the life you once
dreamed of.
I may have graduated years ago, but ISCC will always be part of my foundation. Wherever life
takes me, I will always be proud and grateful to be an alumna of ISCC.
