๐๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ | UMBC DAE Team Clinches Champion Title, Best Sustainable Business Concept for EcoValue System
The Department of Accounting Education (DAE) of UM Bansalan College emerged as the Champion in the Sustainable Business Pitching Competition, one of the events of the 2nd Accounting Convergence on Accountancy Week, held on September 19, 2026, at the UM Matina Campus, Davao City.
Representing UM Bansalan College, Shayne Cheoriz Digap, Jenny Bebs Davin, Arly Mhaeh Salut, Asnaira Kalim, and Liezel Calasan presented the EcoValue System, a proposed digital waste tracking and valuation platform that promotes sustainability through the monitoring and recognition of the economic value of recyclable and recoverable materials.
The team competed against 7 other schools across Region XI and Region XII, including Cor Jesu College, Holy Cross of Davao College, Notre Dame of Marbel University, University of Immaculate Conception, University of Mindanao - Main, University of Mindanao - Digos, and University of Mindanao - Tagum. UM Bansalan College advanced to the final round and was also awarded Best Sustainable Business Concept for its EcoValue System. The participants presented their proposal before a panel of judges and reactors from various sectors and industries in business, accounting, and auditing, particularly those involved in sustainability initiatives.
The students received medals and plaques in recognition of their achievement, together with their adviser and program coordinator, Jaycel P. Bayron, CPA, MBA. The achievement reflects the teamโs collaborative effort, persistence, and commitment to excellence in developing a business concept anchored on sustainability.
