LOOK || RECOGNITION OF PASSERS - CHITTER CHATTER SESSION

On 27 1500H January 23, the newly registered criminologists from UMBC was given a program to recognized them as a December 2022 CLE Passer called "Chitter-Chatter Session". This event was prepared by the criminology interns spearheaded by the DCJE-Program Head, Mr. Miguel D. Hayag Jr., MSCJ together with the DCJE Faculty and with the approval from the Dean of College, Dr. Erick T. Baloran, PhD and School Director, Dr. Jenny T. Hernan, PhD.

This event is to witness and listen to their experiences and the story behind getting RCrim after their name by inspiring the upcoming CA Students/ Interns by giving them tips and motivation in life as they face the Competency Appraisal Course for this semester.

LOOK || COMPETENCY APPRAISAL PROGRAM - STUDENTS AND PARENTS ORIENTATION

On 17 1000H January 23, the Batch SIKLAB 22 - criminology interns, together with their parents, witnessed and were oriented about the policy and regulations for the Competency Appraisal Course for this Second Semester (SY 2022-2023). Wherein, the competency appraisal program is a program that aims to enhance the proficiency of the student, thereby preparing him or her for the licensure examination.

The orientation was spearheaded by the Program Head - Miguel D. Hayag Jr., MSCJ together with the DCJE Faculty and supported by the Dean of College - Dr. Erick T. Baloran, PhD and School Director - Dr. Jenny T. Hernan, PhD

This is the first step in helping your students accomplish their goals. This is the first step toward obtaining the RCrim License.

LOOK || CRIMINOLOGY ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM

In order to prepare for the upcoming Criminologists Licensure Examination, the 97 Criminology Interns are ready to go for their Competency Appraisal for this Second Semester 22-23 after the Batch SIKLAB 22 successfully passed the Practicum (OJT/Internship) during the First Semester 22-23.

The DCJE faculty, under the direction of the Program Head - Miguel D. Hayag Jr., MSCJ, and with the cooperation of the UMBC Dean of College - Dr. Erick T. Baloran, PhD and School Director - Dr. Jenny T. Hernan, PhD, presented the two projects: CALIBER and PISTOL.

LOOK || INTERNSHIP CULMINATION PROGRAM BATCH SIKLAB 22-23

After spending the whole duration of the OJT practicum, the time has finally come. On 21 1600H December 22, Batch SIKLAB 22–23, wherein the 97 criminology interns went through their training, received their certificates of completion from the five host training establishments that they went through.

The said event was organized by OJT Coordinator - Mr. Christopher De Castro Jr., MSCJ and attended by the School Director, Dean of College, Program Head of DCJE, UMBC Faculty, OJT Supervisors, Head of Agencies/Offices and the Guest of Honor and Speaker - PLT. Harvey Sultan with the theme: "Reinforcing Experiential Learning in Criminology amidst Post-Pandemic: Shaping the Philippine Criminology Profession, Honing Future Locally-Responsive Community Leaders"

This event is not just for the success of criminology interns but to gave tribute also to their parents/guardian who supports and guided them all throughout their children's journey. Including the tribute is for UMBC faculty and to the OJT Coordinator who made possible the internship program. At the end of the program, we can see the smile of each intern together with their parents for their successes and achievements.

On 7 0800H December 22 is the Internship Culmination Program of Batch SIKLAB 22 at the Digos City District Jail, which serves as one of the host training establishment.

Hayag Jr., MSCJ, DCDJ Female Dorm OJT Supervisor – JO1 Jerrylyn Rocacorba, DCDJ Male Dorm OJT Supervisor – JO3 Rodel Abratiguin, Warden of Davao Occidental District Jail - Jail Superintendent Len John R. Bernal, Warden of Digos City District Jail Male Dorm - Jail Senior Inspector Reynaldo C. Putong SR., and Warden of Digos City District Jail Female Dorm - Jail Inspector Ofelia P. Lapas.

Congratulations to the UMBC Criminology Interns! It is a job well done, and keep up the good work! Once again, thank you to Digos City District Jail for welcoming us, and the whole experience under this agency will always be in our hearts and will be remembered.

LOOK || COMMUNITY EXTENSION PROGRAM

A Community Extension Program was carried out at Brgy. Tubod, Bansalan on 25 0700H November 22 by UMBC Criminology Interns. The program is to provide 250 packs of relief goods to the residents.

The interns participated in the activity under the direction of Mr. James Linao, MBA, with assistance from Mr. Christopher De Castro Jr., MSCJ, in order to provide assistance to the Brgy. Tubod residents, and it was finished with success.

LOOK || ANNUAL BARANGAY ASSEMBLY

On 24 1300H November 22, Criminology Interns-Delta Team went to Brgy. Tiguman, led by the OJT Supervisor of Digos City Parole and Probation Office, PO1 Jaime Salazar II. This was in response to the Digos City PPO to the invitation of the Barangay Council of Tiguman on their Annual Barangay Assembly.

Furthermore, PO1 Salazar II took the chance to conduct an information drive as well to give a brief details on the primes of Probation and other programs of the agency. The interns assisted on the said event by giving the attendees leaflets containing informations of the programs offered by the Parole and Probation Administration.

The UMBC Criminology Intern assigned to the Digos City District Jail Female Dormitory participated in the Community Outreach Program.

On 23 0830H November 22, the selected female interns were invited to go to the Municipality of Malalag, headed by SJO4 Lilaine Pacana - Assistant Warden together with the DCDJ-FD Jail Officers and give their donations to the victims of the flood.

LOOK || FOREST REHABILITATION AND TREE GROWING ACTIVITY

On 18 0800H November 22, Team Charlie was invited to attend the Forest Rehabilitation and Tree Growing Activity of the Digos City Parole and Probation Office, headed by SPPO Joven DeLeon and PPO1 Jaime Salazar II, together with the probationers and parolees. The said activity was conducted at Brgy. Tiguman, Digos City. The objective of this activity is to plant 2000 seedlings.

The interns were glad to attend the activity. This is also something the interns witnessed and participated in during one of the activities of the probationers and parolees, and because of the teamwork, the activity was successful.

LOOK || CRIMINOLOGY INTERNS FESTIVAL 2022

On 19 0500H November 22, the batch SIKLAB 22–23 celebrated the Interns Fest as part of their internship. They started their day by dancing to Zumba to energize themselves, followed by a friendly competition of TikTok dance in which five platoons participated: Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, and Echo.

Together with the interns are the DCJE faculties, the OJT Coordinator, Mr. Christopher De Castro Jr., MSCJ, and the Program Head, Mr. Miguel D. Hayag Jr., MSCJ. Today's speaker, Patrolman Amoy, who was invited and witnessed this event, personally gives his words of wisdom to the criminology interns, leaving a message, "Always observe lawful orders.

The Interns Festival had a theme: "Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is a progress. Working together is success". Corps De Manuel open the festival by lighting a torch led by platoon leaders. It was followed by a friendly drill competition in which five platoons participated: Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, and Echo. In line with these, it will express and show one of the core values of UMBC: teamwork.

On afternoon, the basketball game started. It was a fun and memorable experience. The said event was successfully completed, and it was an enjoyable day for the interns as they experienced this so-called "Interns Festival."
