The AHS-YES-O, together with the DENR, SSLG and AHS-GSP, gathered to celebrate the National Climate Change Consciousness Week with the theme “One Nation in Motion: Together We Build Climate Solutions – Makabagong Kilusan para sa Klima at Kinabukasan.” Before proceeding to the adopted planting area of AHS-YES-O, a short program was held at the DENR Office where the CENRO Information Officer shared meaningful insights about the vital role of the youth, the causes and effects of climate change, and the importance of environmental stewardship.

A simple yet engaging activity followed, led by the YES-O President, Lovely Joy Seruno, called the Eco-Action Relay Challenge, consisting of three interactive stations. In Station 1, groups raced to correctly segregate mixed waste to advance to the next challenge. Station 2 featured a climate-themed charades game, where one group member picked a hidden word and acted it out for their teammates to guess. Once they guessed correctly, they moved on to Station 3, where each team wrote a one-sentence eco-pledge expressing an environmental action they committed to uphold. Five groups participated, completing all stations as quickly as they could. The CENRO Information Officer chose the Best Pledge, which was awarded to the GSP group for their inspiring statement: “As a scout, we take action together for a better future.”

After the program, DENR staff, YES-O, SSLG, and GSP participants visited the adopted planting area to check the trees planted last June 12 in celebration of Environmental Month.

We would like to sincerely thank our YES-O Adviser ma'am Mary Ann Agustin Balingit for her dedication and hard work. Thank you po for always being active and supportive, and for showing us what it means to be committed and responsible. You continue to inspire us to keep going with our projects and activities like proper waste segregation, maintaining our Material Recovery Facility (MRF), tree planting, recycling programs, clean-up drives, mini garden establishment, and many more environmental activities.

Because of your guidance, we as YES-O officers are motivated to work together and help one another to make sure our school stays clean and green. Your encouragement reminds us that even small actions can bring big changes and that teamwork between officers and our adviser is the key to making all our projects successful.

We promise to continue supporting and implementing our YES-O projects and activities with the same dedication that you always show us.

AHS YES-O Eco-Programs with donations from Alumni

AHS YES-O received a special donation from Batch 2000 — a set of gardening tools to support the school’s environmental programs.

This donation helps the Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O) in their projects like tree planting, waste segregation, and gardening. These activities teach students how to take care of nature and become more responsible for the environment.

The support from alumni shows how much they still care for their school. With students and alumni working together, Abra High School hopes to make its green programs stronger and inspire more students to love and protect the environment.
