THE POWER OF A PEN ✍
They say that "A pen is mightier than a sword," signing this petition would help students to make their body clock coincide with their school clock .

With the title "The Implementation of Afternoon Classes as Separate Classes From Morning Classes for SHS"

We believe that adopting the schedules that most colleges have would also make us more prepared for the environment we're about to enter when we finish our senior years. Students have varied learning styles, qualities, methods, intellect, interests, prior knowledge, preparation, experiences, and so on. Students also have different chronotypes which is also the inherent predisposition of your body to sleep at a specific hour, or what most people refer to as being an early bird or a night owl.

Most colleges and universities have a mix of class meeting times. Some classes might meet for shorter periods of time three times per week, others might meet twice per week, and still others might meet for a longer period once per week. Students often mix and match a combination of classes.

According to Smarr & Schirmer (2018), if students’ schedules are not in sync with their biological clocks, it may affect their GPA. For example, those who prefer to stay up late but have early morning classes are more likely to underperform in school. According to the study of Facer-Childs, et al. (2019) about Circadian phenotype impacts the brain’s resting, they say that there are fundamental differences in brain function between night owls and early birds, and night owls may have impaired function during regular work-day hours Furthermore, researchers at the University of Birmingham found out that, Night owls showed decreased resting brain connection, poorer attention, slower responses, and more significant drowsiness during the workday. Meanwhile, larks had considerably stronger brain connections in areas of the brain associated with better performance and less tiredness, "suggesting that night owls' resting-state brain connectivity is disrupted throughout the day."
We, therefore, conclude that the Implementation of afternoon classes as separate classes from morning classes would be beneficial for students who have different chronotypes. By which their brain function would increase at a certain time of the day.

INFO IN A GRAPHICS 🧠

These infographics contain important details about the different Chronotypes that a student might possess depending on his/her preferences.

It discusses the difference between the two major chronotypes in terms of the advantages and disadvantages of the two. Furthermore, it also gives an insight into what most of the students prefer as shown on the pie graph that was conducted by the researchers.

Chronotype was a unique personal biological clock system that was determined by daytime activities and bedtime preferences. Existing in a time and age wherein education is most definitely perceived as the main foundation in an individual's life and a significant stepping stone towards success. These strategies are often termed as learning styles that can be classified into multiple sorts but there are two common types that are drawn from it, namely Morning Larks and Night Owls. Whether you are a night owl or a morning lark, the period of optimal student performance has been demonstrated to be a critical driver.

The study aimed to investigate the chronotype of STEM students and their perceived academic performance. Specifically, it looked into how the students classify their chronotypes; what are the positive and negative effects of being an early bird or a night owl: and how their chronotypes affect their perceived academic performance. Twelve respondents of non-academic achievers from the Regional Science High school for Region 1 were selected using purposive sampling and were asked to answer semi-structured questions through google forms.

Many more studies are needed to fully comprehend the circadian system of teenagers, to solve the underlying effects of chronotype on school performance, and to create effective solutions to help late chronotypes improve their school performance. We discovered that the chronotype of the sample determined whether or not relationships between sleep characteristics and well-being could be detected, a finding that should be considered in future studies.
