Aklan State University, led by University President Dr. Jeffrey A. Clarin, along with other University officials, participates in the Regional Policy Conference on Future-Ready Higher Education and the 20th AIMS Annual Review Meeting, held October 14 to 16, 2026, at Sotogrande Hotel, Iloilo City, Philippines.

Held as part of CHED x SEAMEO RIHED Higher Education Week, the conference highlights the partnership between the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Higher Education and Development (SEAMEO RIHED) in advancing regional cooperation and strengthening higher education across Southeast Asia. The initiative brings together higher education leaders and policymakers to exchange insights and explore strategies for building future-ready universities.

With discussions centered on leadership, innovation, sustainability, and regional cooperation, the gathering provides a platform for institutions to share perspectives on keeping higher education responsive to changing demands while creating meaningful opportunities for learners and communities.

The ISAT U Alumni Association visited Aklan State University and met with fellow Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) graduates who are now serving as faculty and staff of ASU, including University President Dr. Jeffrey A. Clarin, DIT, who is also an alumnus of ISAT U.

The meeting provided an opportunity to reconnect with fellow graduates, exchange experiences, and share best practices in alumni association management. The discussion highlighted initiatives that help sustain alumni engagement and strengthen connections between graduates and their respective institutions.

The visit underscored how shared educational roots can build lasting professional relationships and open opportunities for collaboration between universities.

Aklan State University congratulates the 33 successful examinees from the College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Environmental Sciences (CAFES) who passed the October 2026 Professional Foresters Licensure Examination.

With an 84.62% passing rate among first-time takers and an 82.5% overall institutional passing rate, ASU surpassed the national passing rate of 74.31%. These results reflect the knowledge, dedication, and perseverance of our graduates as they take their place in the forestry profession.

Ibisate, Director of the ASU Extension and Community Services, and Professor VI from the College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Environmental Sciences, on his re-election as President of the Philippine Association of Agriculturists, Inc. – Western Visayas (Darag Chapter) for another term from January 1, 2027, to December 31, 2028.

His re-election reflects the trust and confidence of his fellow agriculturists in his leadership, vision, and dedication to advancing the agricultural profession. Winners of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) PelikulAgraryo and the K-5 Live News Reporting competition paid a courtesy visit to University President Dr. Jeffrey A. Clarin, following their achievements in their respective competitions.

𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲𝐧 𝐒. 𝐎𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐨, a second-year BA Communication student, emerged as Champion in K-5 Live News Reporting.

Meanwhile, 𝐀𝐧𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, under the ARBO Category, earned several awards for its film “Kon Ham-an Nagakahueog ro Niyog,” receiving 2nd Best Film and Best Actress. The entry also received the Regional Director’s Choice Awards for Best Sound and Best Poster, and nominations for Best Director, Best in Screenplay, Best in Cinematography, and Best in Editing.

Under the ARB Category, 𝐊𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 received the Jury Award for Emerging Filmmaker for its film “Himud-os.”

The courtesy visit recognized the achievements of the student participants and their contributions to journalism, filmmaking, and creative storytelling.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒 | In celebration of Red Cross Youth (RCY) Month 2026, Aklan State University (ASU), in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross – Aklan Chapter, successfully conducted a free Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Lecture-Demonstration on October 12, 2026, at the ASU Amphitheater in Banga, Aklan, as part of the nationwide CPR Caravan initiative.

The activity aimed to equip ASUians with essential lifesaving knowledge and practical CPR skills to help them respond effectively to cardiac emergencies. Through this initiative, participants gained valuable insights into the importance of immediate response and preparedness in saving lives.

Sucgang, a second-year Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) major in Filipino student of Aklan State University–New Washington Campus, proudly secured 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗥𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿-𝗨𝗽 and the 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗼 award during the First K5 News Live Reporting Competition (Tertiary Level), held on October 11, 2026, at CityMall Kalibo.

Representing the university, Sucgang showcased her confidence, communication skills, and talent in live news reporting, earning recognition for her outstanding performance.

With this achievement, Sucgang is set to advance to the Regional Competition in November 2026 in Iloilo City, where she will once again represent the university.
