As part of its commitment to internationalization, continuous quality improvement, and academic excellence, Santo Nino College Foundation, Inc.'s (SNCFI) strengthened its institutional learning through the participation of John Lucas R. Frac, MAEd, CHRA, Activity Coordinator, in an international benchmarking exposure in Singapore on July 8โ€“9, 2026.

The benchmarking exposure was held in conjunction with the Executive Education Program of the National University of Singapore (NUS) Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. It provided participants with an opportunity to observe recognized higher education institutions in Singapore and examine best practices that may be adapted to their respective organizations.

The benchmarking exposure included visits to the National University of Singapore (NUS), LASALLE College of the Arts, and the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), recognized institutions in Singapore. During the visits, participants observed various institutional practices, including student support services, academic delivery, campus facilities, creative learning environments, student engagement initiatives, institutional branding, governance systems, and internationalization strategies. These observations provided valuable insights into how each institution cultivates innovation, inclusivity, and a learner-centered educational experience.

The knowledge gained from the benchmarking exposure will support SNCFI's continuing efforts to enhance student activities, institutional events, student support services, quality assurance initiatives, and campus development programs. By examining effective practices implemented by internationally recognized institutions, SNCFI seeks to identify strategies that can be contextualized and integrated into its own operations, further strengthening its commitment to delivering responsive, innovative, and globally relevant educational experiences for its academic community.

This international benchmarking exposure likewise advances the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by promoting educational excellence, innovation, and continuous professional learning through the adoption of global best practices. It also supports SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions by strengthening institutional effectiveness, good governance, and evidence-informed decision-making through quality improvement initiatives. Moreover, the activity reflects the spirit of SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by encouraging international knowledge exchange and institutional learning from globally recognized higher education institutions, reinforcing SNCFI's commitment to continuous improvement and sustainable educational development.

As part of its commitment to Gender Equality (SDG 5), Santo Nino College Foundation, Inc. (SNCFI) introduces gender-neutral comfort room cubicles, fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for everyone. This initiative is led by the Gender and Development (GAD) Office, in collaboration with the GENDEV Society and the Academic and Administrative Offices. Together, SNCFI continues to build a campus where everyone is respected, valued, and belongs.

The introduction of gender-neutral comfort room cubicles reflects the institution's unwavering commitment to promoting equality, dignity, and inclusivity within its learning environment. To ensure accessibility while maintaining existing facilities, SNCFI has designated one gender-neutral cubicle within the female comfort room and one gender-neutral cubicle within the male comfort room, providing inclusive spaces that can be used by individuals regardless of gender identity or expression. Through this initiative, the institution ensures that every member of its academic community can feel safe, respected, and comfortable while on campus.

This initiative directly advances the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality by promoting equal access to campus facilities and creating an environment where diversity is respected and discrimination is actively addressed. It demonstrates that gender equality is not only reflected in institutional policies but also in the everyday spaces that support learning and personal development.
The project likewise contributes to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being by providing safe and inclusive sanitation facilities that promote both physical safety and mental well-being. A campus where individuals feel secure and accepted helps reduce stress, encourages positive social interactions, and supports the overall wellness of students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Furthermore, the initiative supports SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by ensuring equitable access to essential facilities without fear of discrimination or exclusion. In addition, it aligns with SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions by fostering a campus culture built on respect, fairness, inclusivity, and the protection of human dignity.

The collaborative efforts of the GAD Office, GENDEV Society, and the Academic and Administrative Offices exemplify SNCFI's commitment to translating its values into meaningful action. Through this partnership, the institution continues to strengthen gender-responsive programs and cultivate an educational community where diversity is celebrated and every individual is empowered to thrive.

As Santo Nino College Foundation, Inc. continues to align its institutional initiatives with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, it reaffirms its role as an educational institution that champions equality, promotes well-being, and nurtures socially responsible citizens. Through initiatives such as the establishment of gender-neutral comfort room cubicles, SNCFI continues to create a campus where every individual is respected, valued, and given the opportunity to belong, learn, and flourish.
