𝘾𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙛 𝙑𝙞𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮

From the teardrops of the sky falling heavily upon every aspiring athlete comes the day when their strength, resilience, and unity are put to the test. This is not just an ordinary day, this marks the official opening of 𝙄𝙉𝙏𝙍𝘼𝙈𝙐𝙍𝘼𝙇𝙎 2026 at Puntalinao National High School.

A bright and lively parade swept through the opening grounds, filled with students proudly representing their respective teams. The loudest cheers and electrifying yells came from the small yet formidable Green Pythons, the captivating and valiant Yellow Tigers, the courageous and dynamic Red Bulls, the diligent and passionate Blue Eagles, the fearless and spirited White Wolves, and especially the persistent and determined Pink Panthers. Each team showcased the true spirit of sportsmanship throughout the celebration.

The opening program continued with a meaningful torch-lighting ceremony led by the Davao Regional Athletic Association (DAVRAA) qualifier Mr. John Mark G. Talisic and Provincial Meet qualifier athletes. The flame symbolized peace, unity, and the enduring spirit of sportsmanship that defines the intramurals.

The oath of sportsmanship was then solemnly taken by all student-athletes, signifying their commitment to fair play and respect in every competition.

True success is found in one's character, not only in winning. As the flame continues to burn, may it ignite our passion to give our best—guiding us toward every calling of victory.

Preparedness in Action: A Successful National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill

Puntalinao National High School proudly served as the host school for the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill conducted on July 7, 2026, in collaboration with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) and partner emergency response agencies of the Municipality of Banaybanay.

The successful conduct of the activity reflected the strong partnership among government agencies, school personnel, volunteers, and students in promoting a culture of disaster preparedness and resilience. Through realistic earthquake response scenarios, evacuation procedures, search and rescue operations, first aid, and emergency management, the drill became a valuable learning experience for everyone involved.

Following the simulation, a post-drill evaluation and conference was facilitated by Casiano Mejos Jr., where participating agencies, evaluators, and school representatives assessed the implementation of the exercise. Constructive observations, strengths, and recommendations were shared to further enhance the school's emergency preparedness and response capabilities. The positive evaluation affirmed that the objectives of the drill were successfully achieved through teamwork, coordination, and discipline.

Our sincere appreciation goes to School Principal I, Merlita B. Sablada for her unwavering support and leadership, and to Jurey P. Parcon, SDRRM Coordinator, for spearheading the school's preparations and ensuring the smooth conduct of the activity.

We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated personnel of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO)—Digie L. Marzado, Nernardo G. Gitacay, Reden L. Diano, Jeffrey Clarabal, Lauro C. Beben, Sajid L. Alida, and Ariel Maasin—as well as FO1 Joshua Elmer M. Calapano, FO1 Eduard P. Solier of the Bureau of Fire Protection, Ernan D. Panganiban and Ar-fachzyd M. Sabirin of the Philippine Coast Guard, and Sammy U. Parcon, KABALIKAT CIVIC Representative, for sharing their expertise and commitment in making the drill both safe and meaningful.

A special recognition is also given to the Puntalinao NHS Senior Scouts, who proudly served as one of the emergency response teams during the simulation. Their discipline, preparedness, and commitment to service embodied the true Scout spirit of "Always Ready," making them an integral part of the drill's success.

As the host school, Puntalinao National High School takes pride in the successful outcome of this undertaking. More than completing a required activity, the drill strengthened our readiness, reinforced inter-agency collaboration, and reminded us that preparedness is a shared responsibility.

Together, we continue building a safer, stronger, and more resilient community—one drill at a time.

This news spread like wildfire throughout the internet and raised concern from the Municipal Mayor of Banaybanay regarding student safety. Due to this incident, the 𝘔𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘮 𝘖𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘕𝘰. 162 was issued, which led to a student orientation at Puntalinao National High School attended by distinguished officials and stakeholders.

The program was then initiated and conducted at 𝘗𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘰 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘏𝘪𝘨𝘩 𝘚𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘭. The words of welcome were proudly delivered by Ma'am 𝙈𝙚𝙧𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙖 𝘽. 𝙎𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙖𝙙𝙖, PNHS Principal I: "𝘚𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘭 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘪𝘵 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘢 𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘴 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘦.", she stated. This message serves as a reminder to everyone in the institution of their responsibility to maintain a safe and inspiring school community.

A message coming from the Public Schools District Supervisor, Ma'am 𝙑𝙖𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙖 𝙏. 𝘿𝙪𝙤𝙩 shared a good impression to the students and hoped for a violence and bullying free society in Puntalinao NHS. With the cooperation of the students and teachers, this mission will always be possible and achievable.

In addition, Ma'am 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙮𝙣 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙣 from the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office discussed the consequences faced by minors who violate the law and commit criminal acts. She explained that minors are not detained with adult offenders; instead, they are placed in rehabilitation centers for proper intervention and improvement.

Ma'am 𝘿𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙨 𝙏𝙖𝙡𝙚𝙤𝙣, a PNP chief officer together with 2𝙣𝙙 𝙇𝙞𝙚𝙪𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙩 shared important reminders of cooperation in school and community rules, they expressed the value of self control in every aspect life. In every good deed we do, great results will always conquer.

Moreover, 𝙃𝙤𝙣. 𝙍𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙤 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙖𝙣𝙞 𝙅𝙧., a Barangay Kagawad, brought a heart felt thank you to everyone who attended the said symposium and gave a rest assuring report to the mayor dealing with the barangay's support in every school activities.

At last, 𝙃𝙤𝙣. 𝙇𝙚𝙢𝙪𝙚𝙡 𝙄𝙖𝙣 𝙈. 𝙇𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙞𝙖, the Municipal Mayor of Banaybanay expressed his reasons for creating the municipal ordinance. He aims to provide a safe space for learners following the recent shooting incidents and to protect individuals from the dangers that society may bring. As loving father, he wants to extend the security not just to his family but also to the municipality.

Our society maybe in the midst of chaos and danger thus, building security will always be our aim. In every action we commit, think deep because sometimes our actions can cost one's safety and life. Let us work together and make this world a better and 𝙎𝙖𝙛𝙚 𝙎𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙚.

𝘽𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘽𝙧𝙞𝙙𝙜𝙚𝙨: 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙣𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙂𝙖𝙥𝙨 𝘽𝙚𝙩𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩-𝙏𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥

Awakened by the Sun’s blinding light, followed by the echoes of roosters marked the day of Puntalinao National High School's annual parent orientation for the new school year 2026-2027.

Earlier that day, an out most total of 207 parents and guardians attended the said orientation for the new academic year. The first agenda in which was presented by Ma'am 𝘌𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘢 𝘛. 𝘚𝘢𝘣𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘯, Master Teacher l of PNHS tackled about the revised K-10 curriculum and grading system. According to the DepEd order no.9 series of 2026,the new curriculum consists of 3 terms instead of 4 Quarters. This sudden change of terms is said to give students a longer time span to learn and adapt to lessons. The revised curriculum is implied to promote a much clearer and organized learning schedule not just for teachers, but also for students.

Furthermore, an overview for the strengthening of the senior high school curriculum was then addressed by Ma'am 𝘑𝘦𝘯𝘯𝘺 𝘓𝘺𝘯 𝘉. 𝘚𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘵 and is said to produce not only academically ready, but also job-ready graduates. ““𝑷𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒐 𝑵𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑯𝒊𝒈𝒉 𝑺𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒍 𝒐𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒂𝒄𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒄 𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒌 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒊𝒐𝒓 𝒉𝒊𝒈𝒉 𝒔𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒍 𝒔𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔, 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒂 𝒉𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒆𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏”, as said by Ma'am Surnit.

The Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (𝘼𝙍𝘼𝙇) Program of the Department of Education (DepEd) formally started the program last late 2025. Ma'am 𝘐𝘷𝘺 𝘑𝘢𝘯𝘦 𝘚. 𝘖𝘱𝘢𝘥𝘢, the school's ARAL focal person introduced the focus and purpose of the ARAL program specially to those whom are candidates for the said program. It aims to help low emergent readers, slow readers, and frustrated readers for better improvements in learning and in daily encountered challenges.

Despite the storms and earthquakes, PNHS still rises from the dust, again and again. Ma'am 𝘔𝘦𝘳𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘢 𝘉. 𝘚𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘢𝘥𝘢, the School Principal together with the GPTA president Mr. 𝘗𝘰𝘭 𝘌. 𝘚𝘢𝘣𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘯 and GPTA treasurer Mrs. 𝘎𝘭𝘢𝘥𝘺𝘴 𝘈𝘨𝘣𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘴 exhibited the school achievements from last S.Y. 2025-2026. This shows that our institution holds great power and ability to compete and proudly present our Alma mater.

Moreover, as a part of the orientation, Sir 𝘈𝘭𝘱𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘳𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘰, school's prefect of discipline addressed the institution’s rules and regulations. The discussion executes moral, physical, and spiritual practices, aiming to shape students to excel not just in academics but also in positivity and respect.

As the crowd filled with a bittersweet feeling from all of the waiting and adjustments, the PNHS teaching and non-teaching staff added an extra surprise to the program to sparkle up the mood through a raffle with practical prizes. It may seem little, but it definitely melted the ice berg in the corners and flamed a burning fire with a light of unity in the center.

In conclusion, the children may be the future of our nation, but that would not be possible without a strong foundation from our beloved parents and teachers. There is a long journey ahead in all of us, so always look back to those who have held on to you in every step and every bridge we connect.

The first day of classes at 𝑷𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒐 𝑵𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑯𝒊𝒈𝒉 𝑺𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒍 marked a fresh and hopeful beginning for both students and teachers as they officially opened the new academic year. The day started with a solemn and organized flag ceremony, led by Principal I, Merlita B. Sablada, setting a tone of discipline, unity, and patriotism among the school community.

Following the ceremony, the faculty and staff were formally introduced, allowing students, especially the new ones, to become familiar with the people who will guide and support them throughout their educational journey. The introduction fostered a sense of connection and belonging, reminding everyone that the school is not just a place of learning, but a community.

Adding excitement to the day was the awarding of school supplies to 55 early bird students who arrived ahead of time on the first day of classes. This initiative encouraged punctuality and enthusiasm among learners. Moreover, two students who came to school wearing complete uniforms were also recognized and rewarded with school supplies, promoting discipline and proper school attire.

However, the day also brought an unexpected moment as a sudden earthquake occurred, surprising everyone on campus. Despite the unforeseen situation, the school community remained calm and followed safety protocols. The incident served as a reminder of the importance of preparedness and presence of mind in times of emergencies.

As the day ended, gratitude and prayers were offered for everyone's safety and protection. Indeed, the first day of school at Puntalinao National High School was not only memorable but also meaningful, filled with lessons, recognition, and a shared commitment to start the school year strong despite challenges.

More than just a beginning, the first day proved that the spirit of Puntalinao National High School remains strong, ready to face the year ahead—no matter what comes.
