On April 6–8, 2026, the Bachelor of Science in Biology students conducted a three-day fieldwork activity in Imugan, Santa Fe, Nueva Vizcaya, a recognized upland community known for its rich forest ecosystems and diverse flora and fauna. The activity aimed to strengthen students’ competencies in environmental assessment, biodiversity documentation, and ecological observation through actual field exposure. During the fieldwork, students conducted habitat surveys, identified species of selected plant, fungi, and animal groups, and performed ecological profiling of the area using standard scientific methods. They also practiced proper field techniques such as transect establishment, specimen recording, and ethical handling of biological resources. 🌿📘

The field experience further enhanced students’ appreciation of the ecological importance of the forest landscapes of Nueva Vizcaya and highlighted the role of local communities in conservation efforts. Through collaborative tasks, data gathering, and on-site discussions, the activity promoted teamwork, critical thinking, and application of theoretical knowledge in real environmental settings. Overall, the fieldwork served as an essential experiential learning opportunity that supported the academic preparation of BS Biology students, particularly in the areas of biodiversity assessment, environmental monitoring, and field-based scientific research. 🌏🔬

From the microscopic to the magnificent, learning truly comes alive in the field 🌿🔬🦋

Our BS Biology students embarked on an immersive fieldwork experience in Imugan, Sta. Fe, Nueva Vizcaya last April 6-8, 2026.

Classrooms were replaced by rivers, forests, and thriving ecosystems. Sophomore students explored the unseen world of microorganisms, collecting and analyzing samples that reveal the hidden drivers of life. Meanwhile, our 4th year students dove into hands-on discovery, studying insect diversity for Entomology and examining vertebrate structures in their natural habitats for Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy.

This journey was more than just data collection, it was about sharpening scientific inquiry, fostering collaboration, and experiencing biology where it truly happens: in nature itself.

Here’s to curiosity, exploration, and the next generation of biologists in action! 🌏✨

The Biological Society (BiologicS) proudly congratulates our exceptional Biology students for their outstanding achievement at the NVSU–Bambang Barkada Festival 2026 Booth Competition, where they were awarded 1ST RUNNER UP and recognized for having the MOST INNOVATIVE PRODUCTS.

This remarkable accomplishment reflects not only their creativity and teamwork but also their ability to translate biological concepts into practical, sustainable, and marketable products.

The booth featured an impressive array of student-developed innovations, including tomato-based WINE infused with unique flavors such as watermelon, pineapple, and citrus, demonstrating ingenuity in food biotechnology and value-added processing. In addition, the students showcased GINGER BEER, turmeric-infused eggs, and paper charcoal, highlighting applications of biology in fermentation, functional foods, and environmental sustainability.

Complementing these were fresh vegetables and fruits, as well as handcrafted items like crochet pieces and fuzzy wire creations, emphasizing the integration of science, livelihood, and creativity. Each product embodies the students’ commitment to innovation, sustainability, and community relevance.

We invite everyone to continue supporting these student-led initiatives by exploring and purchasing their products, each one a testament to the potential of biological sciences in driving local enterprise and sustainable development.

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) at Bambang Campus has been granted Level III Accreditation for its Bachelor of Science in Biology (Plant and Animal Biology) program by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACUP), underscoring the college’s sustained commitment to academic quality and excellence.
The Level III accreditation status signifies that the BS Biology program has met AACUP’s stringent standards in key areas which affirm the program’s adherence to outcomes-based education and continuous quality improvement mechanisms.

This milestone was made possible through the collective efforts of the BS Biology faculty and the support of the administration who have consistently worked toward strengthening instruction through laboratory-based learning in both plant and animal biology, research and community engagements.
The AACUP accreditation reflects the college’s readiness to sustain higher levels of program implementation and innovation. The Level III status adds to CAS Bambang Campus’ growing list of quality-assured academic programs and reinforces its role in advancing science education and research in the region.
