The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) recorded the highest voter participation rate among the colleges as the university-wide turnout for the ongoing Halalan 2026 Southern Campus Supreme Student Council (SCSSC) and CSC Elections reached 20%, according to the latest data released by the Management Information System (MIS) Office, today.

Based on the report, 1,107 out of 5,378 registered student voters have already cast their ballots, while 80% of the student population has yet to participate in the elections.

Among the colleges, CAS posted the highest turnout percentage with 322 out of 1,099 students voting, equivalent to 29%. The College of Industrial Technology (CIT) followed with 565 out of 2,690 voters or 21%, while the College of Teacher Education (CTE) recorded 157 out of 758 voters, translating to 20% participation.

Meanwhile, the College of Engineering (COE) registered the lowest turnout after only 63 out of 831 students cast their votes, equivalent to approximately 7.93%.

Under the provisions stated in the NVSU Southern Campus Supreme Student Council Constitution and By-Laws, particularly Article IX, Section 1, a minimum voter turnout of 25% per college and in the entire university must be achieved for the elections to be considered valid.

The provision states, โ€œA voter turnout of at least 25% per College and in the University shall be reached. In case of failure to reach the required voter turnout, a revote shall be held until the required voter turnout is satisfied.โ€

Article IX further outlines the conduct of elections within the university, including the election of executive officers, senators, and congressmen through plurality votes, as well as procedures in the event of electoral ties and vacancies.

With the overall turnout yet to meet the required threshold, students are strongly encouraged to participate in the electoral process and exercise their right to vote before the official closing of the voting portal.

Voting for Halalan 2026 remains open until 5:00 PM tomorrow through studentsโ€™ official UConnect accounts.
