TROPICAL CYCLONE UPDATE
5PM, October 30, 2024

Super Typhoon Leon continues to move closer to Batanes.

At 4:00 p.m., Leon was located 215 km east southeast of Basco, Batanes, packing winds of 185 kph and gusts up to 230 kph. It is moving northwestward at 20 kph.

Wind Signal No. 4 is up in Batanes while eastern Babuyan Islands and northeastern mainland Cagayan are under Signal No. 3.

Leon will be closest to Batanes late Wednesday to Thursday morning.

Landfall and the raising of Wind Signal No. 5 in the province is not ruled out.

Leon will make landfall over eastern Taiwan Thursday afternoon and exit the Philippine area of responsibility late Thursday or early Friday. | via Ariel Rojas, ABS-CBN News
