It's Weekend but Quizzards are still playing in the battlefield of wits!

The MSU - Baloi CHS Quizzers participated in the 20th Multimedia Quiz Show organized by MSU Honors' Program.

Almost stood on a podium, two teams made it to the finals and placed fourth (4th) and sixth (6th). Job well done to these two teams:

The MSU – Balo-i CHS Quizzers’ Club tested their wits once again in another battlefield – the 3rd Mavens Grand Quiz Show organized by the MSU – Marawi Senior High School held last March 29, 2026 at the International Convention Center, Mindanao State University – Main Campus, Marawi City. Our quizzers placed THIRD in the Biodiversity and Biolympiad Quiz Show as part of the Agriculture - Biology Community Day 2026 of Philippine Science High School - Northern Mindanao Campus in Lanao del Norte held last March 13, 2026. The school is represented by:

They were accompanied by their coaches ABDULRAHMAN A. BASHER and SITTI KHADIJA L. ALI who also participated on the Lecture on Organic Agriculture and Concoctions in Organic Agriculture.

Our gratitude goes to the Agri-Bio students of Philippine Science High School - Northern Mindanao Campus in Lanao del Norte for the invitation and for the token received by the participants and the coaches.

“Geography is the subject which holds the key to our future” is a quote by Michael Palin which puzzled the mind of the quizzers. Hence, they have decided to challenge themselves and step into a new realm of knowledge – Geography.

Four (4) students from MSU – Balo-i Community High School were chosen to represent the school in the 15𝖙𝖍 𝕻𝖍𝖎𝖑𝖎𝖕𝖕𝖎𝖓𝖊 𝕲𝖊𝖔𝖌𝖗𝖆𝖕𝖍𝖞 𝕺𝖑𝖞𝖒𝖕𝖎𝖆𝖉 held at the University of the Philippines – Diliman, Quezon City last February 28 to March 1, 2026. These are:

They were accompanied by their coaches, Abdulrahman A. Basher and Adawiyah M. Aguam.

The two-day event started off with inspiring talks about the vastness of geography, this includes economical geography, biogeography, and more. It is then followed by the Qualifying Round which is in the form of a Written Test. In the afternoon, the participants explored geography through a Field Exam. The Semi-Finals and Final Round happened on the second day of the event.

Even if our representatives did not make it to the finals, they treasured the experience and the learnings they had during the Olympiad. They will use this experience to do better next time. Indeed John Dewey was right when he said we do not learn from experience, we learn from reflecting on experience.

𝓣𝓪𝓰𝓸, for the approval of our travel order and financial assistance provided for the student participants and coaches/teachers. To the Faculty and Staff of𝓜𝓢𝓤 - 𝓑𝓪𝓵𝓸-𝓲 𝓒𝓗𝓢, a huge “salamat” for the financial and moral support.

Our utmost gratitude also goes to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, 𝓓𝓻. 𝓢𝓪𝓶𝓼𝓲𝓪 𝓜. 𝓟𝓪𝓲𝓽𝓪𝓸 – 𝓓𝓾𝓶𝓻𝓪𝓷𝓰, for approving the request of the student participants and coaches to travel and participate in this event. To her special assistants Sir Haroun Al-Rashid Maruhom, Dr. Jasmin Tawantawan and Prof. Nor-ain M. Ampang, who guided us all throughout the process of our paperwork.,maraming salamat po.

To our guidance counselor, Mrs. Norsalam P. Mangonte, thank you for the initiative you always offer for the betterment of the student participants. To our school principal, Prof. Saerah B. Macabago, for endorsing and allowing the students to explore geography.

To the parents of the student participants, thank you for allowing and supporting your children to go beyond their comfort zone. This experience surely taught them a lot.

Last but not the least, shukran ya Allah for the guidance and protection. Alhamdulillah.

This is not the end; this is but the beginning of a new era where MSU – Balo-i quizzers grow and level up their game. Alhamdulillah for this experience, Bismillah for the upcoming challenges we may face.

According to Robert A. Heinlein, everything is theoretically impossible, until it is done. That is what these two quizzers did last February 14, 2026.

Abdulrauf Abulkhair and Jeddan Macatanong challenged themselves and participated in the 25th Philippine National Chemistry Olympiad - BARMM Regional Eliminations.

Seems like the entropy of the universe isn't in their favor this time. Still another Alhamdulillah for the experience.

The Quizzers participated in the Natural Science and Mathematics Quiz Bowl held last February 7, 2026 at the Science Lecture Hall, College of Natural Science and Mathematics.

An applause shall be given to TEAM BALOI WYVERNS 2.0 for making it to the TOP 10 SEMI FINALISTS.

Not just one, not two, but three! Yes, that’s right! MSU – Balo-i CHS Quizzers’ Club went home bagging three trophies from the University Quiz Show 2025 organized by MSU – Student League for Academic Advancement and Progress (SLAAP) which was held last November 30, 2025.

Team BALOI WYVERNS and BALOI ARAY KO, ARAY MO won as First Runner Up and Second Runner Up respectively while Ms. Nhorbint L. Sinal of Team BALOI WYVERNS was hailed as the Quizzer of the Year (High School Level). BALOI TYRO also competed in the finals of the quiz show with Fahad Hassiem L. Dimaocor almost taking away the Quizzer of the Year from Ms. Sinal in a tie-breaking round.

After all the restless days of studying, practicing through Mock Quizzes, and brainstorming, their effort comes to fruition. They infused within themselves this year’s UQS theme – they took the risk and owned the game.

Special gratitude to the teachers who were there during the event – their coach, Mr Abdulrahman A. Basher, their chaperones Mr. Janoding P. Batug and Ms. Adawiyah M. Aguam, and the arrival of Ms. Johanessa V. Ali to show support.
