If You Are a Parent of a Child With Special Needs and You Are Feeling Depressed… Hindi Ka Nag-iisa.
Minsan natatakot ka sa sarili mong nararamdaman.
Iniisip mo:
“Baka ako lang ito.”
“Baka masyado ko lang dinidibdib.”
“Baka mahina lang ako.”
Kaya minsan tahimik ka na lang.
You isolate yourself because even you don’t fully understand what you are feeling.
But according to studies, parents of children with special needs have a significantly higher risk of depression and chronic stress compared to other parents.
And honestly…
understandable naman.
Ang bigat ng dala mo araw-araw.
Financial strain.
Continuous support.
Therapy schedules.
Pagod.
Judgment from other people.
At takot sa future ng anak mo.
Pero please remember this:
Hindi ka masamang magulang dahil napapagod ka.
You are a human carrying a very heavy responsibility.
And there are things you can start doing today:
• Join support groups or autism communities
• Talk to people who understand your journey
• Schedule small breaks and rest
• Ask help from family when needed
• Seek professional help if needed
• Pray and reconnect with God
• Take care of your own mental health too
Because your child also needs a healthy and supported parent.
At kung mabigat ang puso mo ngayon…
I pray that God gives you peace.
Peace in your mind.
Peace in your heart.
And strength for tomorrow.
Hindi ka nag-iisa sa laban na ito.

We are officially at the halfway mark of the year. For our SMLC community—our hard-working leaders, therapists, staff, and parents—the pressure to look back and evaluate everything can feel incredibly heavy on a Friday night.
But your weekly reset doesn't need to be an audit of your failures. It should be a celebration of your resilience.
Look at how much you've held together, how many people you've supported, and how much you've grown since January. You made it through the first half of the year. This weekend, your only assignment is to rest your body and protect your peace.
Happy Friday, SMLC Fam! You are doing amazing. 🫂💙

Acceptance means providing the structure to let unique minds thrive. 💙
While awareness helps us recognize when a child or individual faces challenges with focus and executive functioning, Acceptance is what allows them to unlock their potential. It means moving past the frustration of a symptom and focusing entirely on the person—providing the right strategies and environment for them to channel their energy beautifully.
At SMLC, we choose acceptance every day. Through our result-oriented behavioral intervention, we meet every individual exactly where they are to help them master self-regulation and reach their next big milestone. 🌟

Deserve ninyong maging masaya at ipagdiwang araw-araw.

Happy Father's Day! 💙

The June rains are here, but for our SMLC therapists, leaders, staff, and families, the heaviest storms are often the ones hidden behind a brave face. 🌧️
When your daily role is to hold space for others, manage workloads, or anchor a household, it’s easy to forget that you need a sanctuary, too. You spend so much time pouring into everyone else; who pours back into you?
If the gloomy weather matches a heavy heart today, let it be your reminder to step back. The earth needs rain to grow, and your soul needs this pause to heal. You don’t have to fix everything to be valuable.
You are doing a beautiful job, even on the days when you are just quietly surviving.
Happy Friday, SMLC Fam! ✨
