SPEAKER SPOTLIGHT | DR. MARIE GRACE A. GOMEZ ๐
For Beyond the Label 2026, we are honored to welcome Dr. Marie Grace A. Gomez, a distinguished educator whose academic and professional work spans Special Education, Guidance and Counseling, Disability Support, Psychosocial Services, Psychological Assessment, Career Counseling, and Program Development.
Dr. Marie Grace A. Gomez is a Faculty Member of the UP College of Education and holds two doctoral degrees from UP Diliman: a PhD in Education, Special Education and a PhD in Education, Guidance.
Her academic journey has also been recognized through the UP Presidential Scholarship and Pi Gamma Mu Honor, as well as UP Professorial Chairs for excellence in teaching, mentoring, and research.
At Beyond the Label 2026, Dr. Gomez will speak on:
THE SILENT STRUGGLE: WHEN GAPS BECOME IDENTITY
A powerful topic that brings attention to an important dimension of inclusion: what may happen beyond the visible learning, developmental, or support gap.
As children move through school, adolescence, transition, and eventually adulthood, the conversation cannot remain focused only on diagnosis, academic performance, or intervention. Questions of self-concept, belonging, psychosocial well-being, identity, and life beyond school also become increasingly important.
With Dr. Gomezโs background in Special Education and Guidance, her presence brings a valuable interdisciplinary perspective to a seminar centered on what happens from diagnosis to direction โ and across the lifespan.
And fittingly, this conversation takes place at UP Diliman, where her own academic journey and professional work have been deeply rooted.
