Many of us may have Barongs, suits, and other formalwear taking up space in our closets - clothes that are still in good condition, but which we have not worn for a long time and may no longer need.

At the same time, there are couples in our communities who may be going through difficult times and cannot afford to buy formal attire for what will be one of the most important days of their lives - their wedding day.

Perhaps it is time to give our good but no longer needed formal clothes a new life and a new purpose.

The IBP Misamis Oriental Chapter invites you to PASS THE BARONG by donating your pre-loved Barongs, suits, coats, dress shirts, neckties, slacks, belts, and formal shoes that are still clean, presentable, and in good condition.

Through the IBP Mis Or Pass the Barong Campaign, these donations will benefit couples joining free mass wedding ceremonies in Cagayan de Oro City and Misamis Oriental who cannot afford to purchase Barongs or suits for their wedding day.

What may simply be taking up space in our closets could mean so much to someone else. Let us put our pre-loved formalwear to valuable use and help our beneficiaries celebrate their special day with dignity and confidence.

🏛️⚖️ CONNECTION AND ATENEAN PRIDE ⚖️🏛️

The Xavier Ateneo Law Alumni Association, Inc. (XALAAI) continues to strengthen the bonds among Xavier Atenean alumni through meaningful personal engagements rooted in service, camaraderie, and the enduring Atenean spirit.

As part of this continuing effort to personally connect with and recognize its alumni wherever they may be, XALAAI recently extended its alumni engagement to Panabo City, Davao, where Atty. Roswald Joseph J. Pague, a current member of the XALAAI Board of Officers and its Auditor, personally visited fellow Xavier Atenean:

The visit provided an opportunity to renew connections, share updates on XALAAI’s continuing programs and initiatives, and personally extend the Association’s recognition and appreciation to a fellow Xavier Atenean.

🏛️ PERSONAL CONFERMENT OF RECOGNITION

Hon. Castaños was personally conferred his XALAAI Plaque of Recognition, given in recognition of his recent appointment as a Judge and in acknowledgment of his exemplary achievement, integrity, and dedication to the cause of justice, as well as for bringing honor and pride to his alma mater.

The personal conferment is part of XALAAI’s continuing effort to personally reach out to alumni who were unable to receive their plaques during the XALAAI General Assembly and Homecoming in December 2025.

Judge Castaños was likewise presented with a MAGIS Iggy Bank and signified his support for the XALAAI Juris Scholarship Program and the Association’s continuing initiatives.

He was also given a copy of the XALAAI Souvenir Booklet featuring the Association’s milestones, including the 2024 Juris Doctor Conferment Rites.

💙 MAGIS IGGY BANK INITIATIVE

The MAGIS Iggy Bank Initiative is a joint project of the Xavier University Alumni Relations Office and the Xavier University Ateneo de Cagayan Alumni Association, Inc. (XUAAAI), with the support of other Xavier Ateneo alumni chapters and organizations.

The initiative encourages alumni to set aside even ₱10 a day—a small and simple contribution that, when multiplied across the alumni community, can make a meaningful difference.

For XALAAI, the MAGIS Iggy Bank is one of the mechanisms through which alumni can help support the XALAAI Juris Scholarship Program and other programs and initiatives of the Association.

More than a collection box, the Iggy Bank represents the spirit of MAGIS—our shared commitment to give back, support one another, and help provide opportunities for future generations of Xavier Atenean lawyers.

💳 STRENGTHENING XAVIER ATENEO CONNECTIONS: THE JURIS CARD AND THE NEXT ALUMNI INITIATIVE

A meaningful exchange of ideas and alumni initiatives took place during a recent meeting with Fr. Mars P. Tan, SJ, following the participation of the Xavier Ateneo delegation in the World Union of Jesuit Alumni (WUJA) Congress 2026 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

During the meeting, Atty. Virgilio A. Galarrita, Jr., President of the Xavier Ateneo Law Alumni Association, Inc. (XALAAI), took the opportunity to present Fr. Mars P. Tan, SJ with a complimentary Xavier Ateneo Juris Card—a gesture that was incidental to the meeting but meaningful in highlighting one of XALAAI’s continuing initiatives.

The Xavier Ateneo Juris Card, an initiative of XALAAI in partnership with the Xavier University Association of Law Students (XU-ALS), provides current law students, alumni, and faculty members access to privileges and discounts from a growing network of partner establishments.

More than a discount card, the Juris Card is part of XALAAI’s efforts to strengthen alumni engagement, build partnerships, and create meaningful connections within the Xavier Ateneo Law community.

💙 BUILDING ON THE JURIS CARD: THE XUAAAI PRIVILEGE CARD

Building on the experience and foundation established through the Juris Card, another alumni initiative is now in the works—the XUAAAI Privilege Card, envisioned to serve the entire Xavier Ateneo alumni community.

Initial discussions are now being undertaken by XUAAAI, the Xavier University Alumni Relations Office, and other stakeholders on the proposed card’s structure, partner establishments, privileges, and other pertinent details.

The envisioned XUAAAI Privilege Card seeks to create a broader network of benefits for alumni while strengthening collaboration among the University, Alumni Relations Office, XUAAAI, alumni associations, and alumni chapters.

🇮🇩 FROM WUJA 2026

The meeting followed the recently concluded WUJA Congress 2026 in Yogyakarta, where Xavier Ateneo was strongly represented by its alumni community.

The delegation was led by Fr. Frank Dennis Savadera, SJ and Mr. George S. Goking, President of XUAAAI, with Atty. Galarrita, Vice President of XUAAAI and President of XALAAI, together with other Xavier Ateneo alumni leaders.

The Congress also marked a historic step for Philippine Jesuit alumni, with delegates approving in principle the formation of the Federation of Philippine Jesuit Alumni Associations (FPJAA) on July 31, 2026, the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola.

From global alumni conversations in Yogyakarta to concrete initiatives here in Cagayan de Oro, Xavier Ateneo continues to build bridges and turn collaboration into meaningful action.

XALAAI Continues Personal Conferment of Plaques of Recognition

Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental — The Xavier Ateneo Law Alumni Association, Inc. (XALAAI) continues its personal conferment of Plaques of Recognition, honoring distinguished alumni who were unable to receive their awards during the December 2025 General Assembly and Homecoming.

Among those personally visited and recognized is Hon. Mirabeaus A. Undaluk, Presiding Judge of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 43, Gingoog City, in recognition of his service to the judiciary and his embodiment of the Xavier Ateneo School of Law ideals of competence, integrity, and dedication to public service.

The Plaque of Recognition was personally conferred by Atty. Virgilio A. Galarrita Jr., President of XALAAI, during a visit to Judge Undaluk’s chambers—bringing the recognition directly to a fellow alumnus in the very place where the important work of administering justice takes place.

The visit reflects XALAAI’s continuing effort to reconnect with its alumni wherever they may be serving and to personally honor their contributions to the legal profession, the judiciary, and the community.

More than the plaque itself, these visits strengthen the bonds among Xavier Ateneo Law alumni and reaffirm a shared commitment to service, excellence, and giving back.

XALAAI likewise continues to advance its Juris Scholarship Program, together with the MAGIS Iggy Bank Program, which encourages alumni to set aside at least ₱10 a day. Through simple acts of generosity and collective participation, the alumni community can help support deserving future members of the legal profession and contribute to the broader Xavier Ateneo academic community.
