Each year, the KSI Foundation conducts the Speaking and Writing Contests among King Sejong Institutes worldwide, and KSI-Balanga City is proud to take part in this prestigious tradition.

Last May 23–24, students from different levels gathered at the College of Arts Amphitheatre and the KSI facility at BPSU Main Campus to showcase their Korean language skills. Through dedication, preparation, and passion, participants demonstrated their hard work and talent in both speaking and writing.

After careful deliberation by KSI-BC dispatched teachers, Kim Namhee and Park Jongchan, together with local teacher Angela Lea P. Causon, the winners were selected and recognized during the completion ceremony.

We proudly present and congratulate the students who achieved outstanding results in this year's contests.

The celebration did not end with the formal program. In the afternoon, students gathered at the insitute's facility located on the 5th Floor of the College of Arts and Sciences' Building, BPSU Main Campus, to enjoy a delightful Korean-inspired lunch and create special memories through the complimentary photobooth available for everyone. The celebration then moved to the Amphitheatre, where students took part in a variety of engaging cultural activities filled with laughter, friendly competition, and exciting games. Participants had the opportunity to win special Korean-themed prizes while creating cherished memories with their fellow learners.

More than just a gathering, the event served as a meaningful opportunity for students to deepen their appreciation of Korean culture beyond the classroom. Through shared experiences and genuine interactions, the KSI-BC community further strengthened the bonds and friendships built throughout the semester. We hope to see you again at our future cultural activities as we continue celebrating learning, culture, and community together.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to HARU Kimbob and KKPOP Mart for providing delightful Korean food and products, and to Instapics Photobooth for helping our students capture special moments that made this celebration even more memorable and enjoyable for everyone.

King Sejong Institute – Balanga City (KSI-BC) successfully concluded this year's 1st Semester through a Completion Ceremony held on June 13 at the College of Arts and Sciences Amphitheater, 2nd Floor, BPSU Main Campus. The event served as a celebration of the dedication, perseverance, and accomplishments of students who successfully completed the four-month Korean Language Classes.

Prior to the formal program, registration of attendees took place. Subsequently, the ceremony officially commenced with the preliminaries led by Ms. Donna Marie M. Rodriguez, who served as the Master of Ceremonies.

Following the opening formalities, the Opening Remarks, written by Dr. Emmanuel C. Macaraeg, President of KSI-BC, were delivered on his behalf by Ms. Rodriguez. In his message, Dr. Macaraeg congratulated the graduates for their hard work, perseverance, and commitment throughout the semester. He emphasized that this milestone represented not an end, but rather the beginning of greater opportunities ahead. Furthermore, he encouraged the graduates to continue pursuing personal and professional growth while carrying with them the values of diligence, respect, and cultural openness. He also expressed his gratitude to the parents, faculty, staff, and the KSI Foundation for their unwavering support and proudly welcomed the graduates into the growing community of more than 2,000 KSI-Balanga alumni.

As the program progressed, the ceremony's most anticipated segment—the Awarding of Certificates of Completion took place. Facilitated by Ms. Crima Ysyla H. Quicho, Operations Head of KSI-BC, together with the dispatched and local teachers, the awarding recognized the students' successful completion of their respective classes. A total of ninety (90) students from ten (10) class levels proudly received their certificates and were officially recognized as completers of the semester.

In addition to recognizing the completers, the ceremony also honored the participants and winners of the annual Speaking and Writing Contest held on May 23 and 24. Their outstanding performances showcased the knowledge, skills, and confidence they had developed throughout their studies.

Thereafter, a special Audio-Visual Presentation (AVP) was shown, allowing attendees to look back on memorable moments from the semester. The presentation featured heartfelt messages from students expressing their gratitude to their teachers for their unwavering guidance, patience, and dedication. At the same time, the institute's Operations Team presented a heartfelt tribute video honoring the service and contributions of the dispatched teachers, Mr. Kim Namhee and Mr. Park Jongchan, as they concluded their time at KSI-BC and prepared to return to South Korea.

The emotional atmosphere continued as messages of congratulations, gratitude, appreciation, and hope were delivered by local teachers Ms. Angela Lea P. Causon and Mr. Marlon C. Holgado, alongside dispatched teachers. Reflecting on the semester's journey, they shared words of gratitude, appreciation, encouragement, and inspiration, reminding students to continue pursuing their goals and fostering their passion for learning the Korean language and culture.

Finally, the Completion Ceremony formally concluded with the Closing Remarks delivered by Ms. Crima Ysyla H. Quicho. In her message, she extended her heartfelt congratulations to all graduates and expressed her sincere appreciation to the teachers, staff, parents, and everyone whose dedication and support contributed to the success of both the ceremony and the semester as a whole.

As one chapter comes to a close and new journeys begin, KSI-Balanga proudly celebrates the achievements of its students and looks forward to welcoming them again in the future.

The inauguration ceremony commenced with a formal program held at the BA Communication Amphitheater of the College of Arts and Sciences, Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU). Following the preliminaries, Dr. Ruby B. Santos-Matibag, Ed.D., President of BPSU, delivered her congratulatory message, highlighting the institute's accomplishments and expressing her optimism for the continued success of the partnership between BPSU and KSI-BC in the years ahead.

Mr. Jaewoo Jeon, former President of KSI-BC, and Dr. Gregorio J. Rodis, Ph.D., former University President of BPSU, likewise shared messages reflecting on the history and development of the institute from its establishment to its present achievements. Their remarks emphasized the importance of international collaboration and cultural exchange of two countries.

The program continued with a message and presentation delivered by Dr. Emmanuel C. Macaraeg, Ph.D., CESE, President of KSI-BC, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the institution's partners, stakeholders, faculty members, and staff whose unwavering dedication contributed to the realization of the new facility. A presentation was also presented showcasing the milestones and journey of KSI-BC, from its establishment to its remarkable growth as a center for Korean language and cultural education in Bataan.

The closing remarks were delivered by Ms. Crima Ysyla H. Quicho, Operations Head of KSI-BC, who acknowledged the contributions of everyone who played a role in the success of the inauguration and the institute. As a meaningful highlight of the closing program, a Special Award Recognition and Appreciation was presented to the Korean Dispatch Teachers of KSI-BC, Kim Namhee and Park Jongchan. The award honored their dedication, passion, and invaluable contributions to the institute and the local community. As they conclude their final semester in Balanga City before returning to Korea, the recognition served as a heartfelt expression of gratitude for their efforts in enriching Korean language education and strengthening cultural ties between Korea and the Philippines.

Adding vibrancy and cultural flair to the celebration, BC-Legs, a campus dance group, delighted guests with a special Korean dance performance. After the presentation, Ms. Dona Marie M. Rodriguez, MDC, the Master of Ceremonies, directed the guests to proceed to the next part of the inauguration program.

The celebration then transitioned to the much-anticipated Ribbon Cutting and Blessing of the KSI-BC Facilities located at the Roof Deck of the BA Communication Building. The ceremonial ribbon cutting was led by Dr. Ruby B. Santos-Matibag, Dr. Gregorio J. Rodis, Mr. Jaewoo Jeon, and Dr. Emmanuel C. Macaraeg, symbolizing the official opening of the institute's new home. The blessing of the facilities was officiated by Rev. Fr. Tristan Ralf Q. Pacheco, Parochial Vicar of the Cathedral Shrine of Saint Joseph Parish, who offered prayers for the continued success, safety, and prosperity of KSI-BC and its future endeavors.

Following the blessing, guests witnessed the unveiling of the KSI-BC Inauguration Signage, formally commemorating the establishment of the new facility and symbolizing the institute's mission to serve as a bridge for educational and cultural exchange.

The celebration continued with an official photo session attended by guests, university officials, partners, faculty members, and students, preserving memories of this historic occasion. A lunch buffet followed, providing an opportunity for meaningful conversations among attendees.

As a special highlight of the afternoon, Governor Jose Enrique S. Garcia III paid a courtesy visit to the newly inaugurated KSI-BC facilities. His presence underscored the significance of the event and reflected the Provincial Government of Bataan's continued support for initiatives that promote education, cultural understanding, and the strengthening of people-to-people ties between the Philippines and the Republic of Korea.

With all of these, the inauguration of the new KSI-BC facility stands as a testament to the strong partnership between KSI-BC and Bataan Peninsula State University, as well as the collective efforts of its leaders, faculty, staff, partners, and stakeholders. More than the opening of a new physical space, this milestone represents renewed opportunities for learning and cultural engagement of students—further strengthening KSI-BC's mission of connecting communities through education and fostering deeper ties across nations.

Last weekend, courageous and passionate students took the opportunity to participate in the Annual Korean Speaking and Writing Contest facilitated by King Sejong Institutes across the globe. The contest aims to encourage students to showcase their Korean language proficiency and skills through writing and speaking.✨

The writing contest was held on Saturday, May 23, at the institute lecture room, while the speaking contest took place the following day at the College of Arts and Sciences Amphitheater, 2nd Floor. Both venues are located at the BA Communication Building, BPSU Main Campus, where former and current students participated.📝🎤

This contest was judged and deliberated by Korean dispatched and local teachers, while the winners will be announced and awarded during the Completion Ceremony next month.🏆
