The outreach brought together members, partners, and volunteers in the spirit of service and generosity, echoing the Rotary Clubโ€™s enduring commitment to uplifting communities.

Dr. Bernadeth B. Gabor, Director of ETSO, delivered a heartfelt message reflecting on the deeper value of giving and the profound joy that stems from sharing with others. Quoting Albert Einstein, she reminded everyone, โ€œOnly a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.โ€

Also present to support the initiative was Mrs. Maricel S. Galura, Executive Director of the Rotary Club of Balanga, who took an active role in distributing gifts and preparing meals for the children. The warmth and compassion shown by club members Dr. Joanne Lobrino and Mr. Eduardo Tiambeng, alongside a team of dedicated volunteers, made the celebration even more impactful.

More than just an anniversary event, the activity served as a powerful reminder that true celebration comes from compassion and service. Through simple acts of kindness, the Rotary Club continues to foster unity, hope, and shared purpose among the people of Balanga.

The virtual session, spearheaded by ETSO Director Dr. Bernadeth B. Gabor, convened key stakeholders to finalize preparations for the re-launch of the ANCOP Sarap Food Processing Center, located in ANCOP Bani, Sitio Bani, Brgy. Cataning, Balanga City, Bataan. This initiative underscores the shared commitment of both institutions to promote sustainable livelihood opportunities within the region.

In attendance were notable ANCOP leaders, including Mr. Efren Tompong and Mr. Evan Buban from ANCOP Manila; Mr. Juancho Enriquez and Mr. Rino Sr. Baluyot from ANCOP Bataan; and DOST representatives Mr. Jerwin V. Vianzon, Mr. Patrick Evan Alegre, and Mr. Thyrone Gamet. Their insights and expertise further refined the strategic direction of the food processing center, envisioned as a model for community empowerment through capacity-building and enterprise development.

The meeting emphasized the value of intersectoral collaboration in realizing social transformation through education and service. As plans progress, BPSU and ANCOP reaffirm their dedication to supporting grassroots innovations that uplift marginalized communities and advance the Sustainable Development Goals.

As part of the BPSU ANCOP BANI Project under the Extension and Training Services Office, students from the Master of Arts in Education major in Technology and Livelihood Education (MAEd TLE) conducted a meaningful skills training session at ANCOP BANI, Brgy. Cataning, Balanga City.

The initiative, which took place on May 31, 2025, at 8:00 AM, was designed to complement the learning objectives of the Ecology of the Filipino Family subject, providing students with hands-on experience in applying their skills while engaging with the local community.

The program included a banana bread-making workshop, where participants learned essential techniques in baking and food preparation. This was followed by a โ€œShare a Mealโ€ activity, fostering connections and strengthening bonds between students and community members over a warm, shared meal. The event concluded with a gift-giving ceremony, spreading joy and encouragement among the beneficiaries.
The success of the training was further enhanced by the Rotary Club of Balanga, whose assistance contributed to the smooth ex*****on of the event. Their support underscores the importance of collaboration in fostering education and empowerment within the community.

The BPSU ANCOP BANI Project continues to be a beacon of transformative learning, bridging academic knowledge with practical experiences that uplift lives. ANCOP Bani Project Showcases Innovation at the 3rd ETSOPreneurs Trade Fair 2025

The ANCOP Bani Project, one of the beneficiaries of the Extension and Training Services Projects (ETSO) under its proponent, Dr. Bernadeth B. Gabor, ETSO Director, proudly participated in the 3rd ETSOPreneurs Trade Fair 2025. Held on March 17-18 at the CTEC Ground, BPSU Main Campus, the event served as a platform for ANCOP Bani, located at Sitio Bani, Brgy. Cataning, Balanga City, Bataan, to showcase its innovative and community-driven products.

Led by its In-charge leader for ANCOP BANI Livelihood Activities, Mr. Rino Baluyot, ANCOP Bani highlighted its processed goods, including their signature camote chips and banana chips, which were well-received by attendees for their exceptional quality and flavor. Additionally, the team introduced nutribites as an emergency food reserve, underscoring the importance of food security and sustainable innovations for community resilience.

The participation of ANCOP Bani in the trade fair showcased the success of BPSUโ€™s extension programs in empowering communities through education and livelihood training. Share-a-Meal Project and School Supplies Distribution Event Leaves Lasting Impact in ANCOP Bani Community

Balanga City, July 27, 2024 โ€“ The Extension and Training Services Office (ETSO) of Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) joined forces with the Rotary Club of Balanga to host a heartwarming community event at ANCOP Bani. The Share-a-Meal Project, coupled with the distribution of school supplies and toys, brought hope and joy to underprivileged community members.

The day began with Ms. Girlie Llorca leading a heartfelt prayer, setting a positive tone. Ms. Maricel Galuraโ€™s warm welcome address emphasized the power of community collaboration. Rotarian Lorena Tarrayo engaged attendees with a lecture on educationโ€™s significance and practical tips for personal belongings.

The distribution of school suppliesโ€”notebooks, pens, and other essentialsโ€”ensured that young learners were well-prepared for their studies. Meanwhile, fifty children received toys, brightening their day and reinforcing a sense of community.

A shared meal nourished both bodies and spirits. Attendees gathered around tables, strengthening bonds and creating a sense of unity.

DOST Central Internal Affairs Office Conducts Audit and Inspection at ANCOP SARAP Food Processing Center for Community Empowerment Project in Balanga, Bataan

Balanga City, Bataan, July 3, 2024 โ€” The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) โ€“ Central Office, in collaboration with the Internal Audit Service (IAS), recently conducted an audit and inspection visit to the ANCOP SARAP Food Processing Center in Sitio Bani, Brgy. Cataning, City of Balanga, Bataan. The project, titled "Community Empowerment through the Provision of Necessary Technology," aims to uplift the marginalized community of Kanlungan ng Pag-asa.

The DOST team arrived on July 3, 2024, and meticulously evaluated the project's impact, sustainability, and overall effectiveness. During the visit, a comprehensive question-and-answer session took place to assess the project's outcomes, processes, and inputs. The team commended the efforts of the Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) for their role in implementing the ANCOP Bani Project.

The recent audit of the ANCOP SARAP Food Processing Center revealed critical areas for improvement. Firstly, changes in management pose challenges, necessitating the inclusion of Social Science trainers to ensure program sustainability during leadership transitions. Secondly, proper equipment maintenance is essential for long-term success, requiring regular inspections and preventive measures. Lastly, building a qualified and dedicated staff team is vital; thus, prioritizing training and capacity-building is recommended. Additionally, enhancing the organizational structure will improve project management and coordination. Continued production of food products remains crucial for sustaining community impact.
Ms. Maria Teresa B. De Guzman, Ms. Rebecca Rose Javier, Mr. Mark Neil B. Pageet, and Ms. Cristine Mae M. Elaga represented the DOST-IAS during the visit. Their evaluation focused on effectiveness, efficiency, ethics, and economy in the implementation of the Grants-in-Aid (GIA) Program.

BPSU-ETSO Paves the Way for ANCOP Sarap Food Processing Center's Revival with Targeted Training Sessions

The Bataan Peninsula State University's Extension and Training Services Office (BPSU-ETSO) has successfully conducted a specialized training program in ANCOP โ€“ Bani, Brgy. Cataning, Balanga City, Bataan. This initiative, which took place from April 24-27, 2024, is a cornerstone in the lead-up to the much-anticipated reopening of the ANCOP SARAP Food Processing Center.

A New Dawn for ANCOP SARAP

The revival of the ANCOP SARAP Food Processing and Pasalubong Center marks a new chapter in the economic and professional development of the ANCOP โ€“ BANI community. The center is set to be a hub for the production of Emergency Reserved Flour and a suite of vegetable-based products, including malunggay pandesal, nutribuns, camote tarts, cornstarch cookies, banana chips, camote chips, spicy dilis, and an assortment of pickled vegetables.

Selecting the Best for ANCOP SARAP

Out of fifteen hopefuls participating in the training, a select group of five will be chosen to become the pioneering employees of the ANCOP SARAP Food Processing Center. The training is meticulously designed to enhance their food processing and baking skills, while simultaneously nurturing their entrepreneurial spirit. These skills are vital for the participants to effectively contribute to the community's income-generating projects.

Commitment to Continuous Learning and Excellence

In our relentless pursuit of excellence and innovation within the community's food security initiatives, a retraining program was held to augment the expertise of the BPSU-ANCOP Bani Food Processing Center's team. This retraining is in sync with the objectives of the eCEST project, spearheaded by the Department of Science and Technology-Provincial Science and Technology Center.

The retraining took place on May 17-18, 2024, at the BPSU University Hostel, under the guidance of Mr. John Robert Garcia, TVET Coordinator. The Emergency Food Reserve (EFR) project, a key component of this initiative, continues to make remarkable progress in empowering the ANCOP Bani Community. The ongoing commitment to training ensures that the center not only maintains high standards in food production but also adapts to new technologies and methods, fostering sustainability and resilience within the community.

The BPSU-ANCOP Bani Project is more than just a revival of a food processing center; it is a beacon of hope and progress for the community. BPSU-ETSO Joins Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week at Botolan, Zambales

The Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) Extension and Training Services Office was invited to attend and participate in the Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) held on October 20, 2023 at Botolan, Zambales. The event, organized by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region III, aimed to exhibit featured products and showcase technological innovations in the field with real-world applications. The event also sought to encourage the youth to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) career paths by exposing them to various educational activities.

The BPSU Extension and Training Services Office together with Mr. Jonel Cruz, ETSO Administrative Aide VI brought with them the ANCOP-Bani Products, which are food products made from locally sourced ingredients such as banana, cassava, coconut, and sweet potato. The products include chips, flour, vinegar, and wine. The ANCOP-Bani Products are part of the BPSUโ€™s community extension program that aims to provide livelihood opportunities and income generation for the farmers and residents of Bani, Bataan.

The ANCOP-Bani Products attracted the curiosity and interest of the people who visited the exhibit. Many of them tried and bought the products, which were guaranteed to be delicious, nutritious, and affordable. The BPSU Extension and Training Services Office also shared information about the production process, the benefits, and the challenges of the ANCOP-Bani Products. They also received feedback and suggestions from the customers and potential partners.

The RSTW also featured other activities such as poster making, Science Centrum, quiz bee, basic computer knowledge, and innovation forum. The event was participated by several students from different schools in Region III. The students were able to appreciate and enjoy the innovation of technology on the learning process. They also learned about the importance of science, technology, and innovation in achieving a resilient, comfortable, and peaceful future.

The event was graced by several distinguished guests and speakers, such as Hon. Jun Omar C. Ebdane, the mayor of LGU Botolan; Dr. Julius Caesar V. Sicat, the regional director of DOST III; Atty. Roland P. Calde, the regional director of NCIP; Dr. Teodoro Gatchalian, the undersecretary of DOST; and Sen. Joel J. Villanueva, who delivered a keynote message read by his representative..

The event also featured various activities and competitions, such as a quiz bee, a poster making contest, and an awarding ceremony for the best CEST community. CEST stands for Community Empowerment through Science and Technology, which is a flagship program of DOST that aims to address the needs and problems of marginalized communities through S&T interventions.

It also showcased some of the latest S&T packages that were turned over to different beneficiaries in the region. These include the STARLINK internet satellites service to schools, which provides high-speed broadband connectivity to remote areas; the mobile water treatment plant (MWTP), which can produce potable water from any source; and the mobile command and control vehicle (MOCCOV), which can serve as an emergency response unit in times of disasters.

The BPSU Extension and Training Services Office expressed their gratitude to the DOST Region III for inviting them to join the RSTW. They also congratulated the organizers and participants for making the event a success. They hoped that through their participation, they were able to contribute to the promotion of science, technology, and innovation in the region. They also looked forward to more collaborations and partnerships with other stakeholders in advancing their extension programs and projects.
