Who knew a little push could do the heavy lifting? The BSEd-Science students proved that in fluid mechanics, itโs not about working harderโitโs about working smarter.
Second-year BSEd Science students successfully conducted a ๐๐บ๐ฅ๐ณ๐ข๐ถ๐ญ๐ช๐ค ๐๐๐ง๐ต ๐๐น๐ฉ๐ช๐ฃ๐ช๐ต as part of their Fluid Mechanics 1 course, held at the Chemistry Laboratory under the guidance of their adviser, Ms. Sharmagne D. Tunac.
The activity aimed to provide a hands-on demonstration of Pascalโs Principle, showing how pressure applied to a confined fluid is transmitted equally in all directions, enabling the lifting of heavy objects with minimal effort. Through this interactive exhibit, students bridged theory and practice by constructing functional hydraulic models that clearly illustrated the relationship between force and area.
During the demonstration, students tested the efficiency of their hydraulic systems using improvised loads, including cases with empty bottles as weights. This allowed them to validate the effectiveness and accuracy of their designs in real-time.
The exhibit was evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges: Mr. John Lloyd Ramos, Ms. Jonalie Dela Cruz, and Ms. Shory Ann Viernes.
The activity was a successโnot only in showcasing the studentsโ technical skills and creativity, but also in deepening their understanding of fluid mechanics through collaborative and inquiry-based learning.
