Baguio City — The University of Baguio- School of International Hospitality and Tourism Management (UB-SIHTM) hosted a seminar titled "𝘏𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘭 𝘌𝘹𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦: 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘎𝘭𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘭 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘐𝘯𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘒𝘪𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘖𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴" on May 5, 2026, at the FGB Hall. The event was held exclusively for students enrolled in Asian Regional Cuisine (HPSIAN1) and Philippine Regional Cuisine with specialization in Cordilleran Cuisine (PHIREG1).

JUST IN: A Halal seminar is happening at the UB-FGB Building, focusing on understanding Halal principles in the global market. Discover how to apply Halal standards in restaurant operations and pastry production, and align practices with internationally recognized compliance frameworks.

UB-SIHTM proudly congratulates Chef Sweet, who brought valuable insights to the 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙨 session at the 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐨 𝐁𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐨. Sharing expertise on Inventory Management, Chef Sweet highlighted innovative practices that strengthen culinary excellence and industry relevance, inspiring participants during the Kitchen Management Series at the Baguio Convention Center.

After insightful sessions with SIHTM faculty members, participants engaged in a hands-on workshop where they learned atchara and jam making—transforming Baguio vegetables into sustainable products while reducing waste, creating livelihood opportunities, and supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

🥫 Canning Goodness, Community Wins! 🌿

Thrilled to wrap up a powerhouse collab between Young Innovative Chefs (YIC) and Association of Student Restaurateurs (ASR) at the Community Outreach Workshop: Baguio Vegetables through Canning Process on March 14, 2026, held at UB SIHTM B Building Main Kitchen.

Highlights included Chef Klyde Mortel's food sanitation insights, Sir Mark Alvar's food costing tips, Chef Sweet Eulynette Garcia's preservation expertise, and Chef Robenson Dasalla's hands-on canning and labeling demo.

Brgy. Pinsao Proper residents joined in, gaining hands-on skills for veggie preservation, sustainability, and local livelihoods.

This March 14, 2026 (Saturday | 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM), the Young Innovative Chefs (YIC) and the Association of Student Restaurateurs (ASR) proudly present a meaningful community initiative — “Community Outreach Workshop: Baguio Vegetables through Canning Process.” 🥫✨

Held at UB SIHTM B Building Main Kitchen, this hands-on workshop will guide the residents of Brgy. Pinsao Proper in transforming fresh local produce into preserved goods through pickling, jamming, and canning methods — a step towards food sustainability and entrepreneurship!

Beyond learning preservation techniques, this outreach aims to empower the community to:
- Create sustainable food sources year-round
- Build small-scale business opportunities
- Support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — from Zero Hunger to Responsible Consumption and Production
