🎉 The UP Baguio Debate Varsity celebrates its 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 at the 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗿𝗶 𝗗𝗲𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, held on April 11–12, 2026! 🏆🎤

As Debaters:
🔥 The team of 𝗔𝗿𝗷𝗮𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗼𝘆, 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘁 𝗧𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗼, and 𝗡𝗼𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼𝘇𝗮 broke as the 𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 and emerged as the 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀.

🏅 𝗔𝗿𝗷𝗮𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗼𝘆 ranked as the 𝟲𝘁𝗵 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿 and was awarded 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿 of the Open Grand Finals.

🎉 The UP Baguio Debate Varsity marks its first Asian Parliamentary tournament of the season at the 𝗟𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗗𝗲𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻, held on March 14–15, 2026! 🎤✨

As Debaters
🔥 The team of Ron Bunsoy, Lorraine Porras, and Daniella Galang broke as the 𝟯𝗿𝗱 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 and advanced to the 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀.

🏅 Ron Bunsoy ranked as the 𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿 of the tournament.
🌟 Lorraine Porras and Daniella Galang both placed as the 𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀.

We are proud of this strong showing as the varsity steps into the Asian Parliamentary circuit this season. ❤️‍🔥

🎉 𝗨𝗣 𝗕𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗼 𝗗𝗲𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗩𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 Takes the National Stage at the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘆𝘁𝗮, held on January 23–25 and January 30–February 1! 🇵🇭🎤

Competing on the national stage, our contingent carried the UPB name with grit, discipline, and pride.

🗣️ Ron Bunsoy and Pilar Toribio breaks as the 𝟯𝟵𝘁𝗵 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 and reached the 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀.
🏅 Ron Bunsoy also ranked as the 𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝘂𝗽 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀, marking an outstanding individual achievement at Nationals.

🧑‍⚖️ Oarben Balicoco, our Chairperson, served as part of the 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝗷𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹 and sat on the 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀 as a judge.

🧑‍⚖️ Dave Oliva, our sole representative, was a Subsidized Adjudicator, broke as a judge, and was part of the Open Grand Finals panel.

𝗨𝗣𝗕 𝗗𝗘𝗕𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗩𝗔𝗥𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗪𝗥𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗗 𝗜𝗦 𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘!

Debate is both a sport and a platform, one that demands rigor while giving weight to the voices that enter the room. In 2025, we hope to have reflected that principle and reinforced what defines us and what we stand for within the circuit.

As 2026 approaches, we strive to carry the same sentiment and to making speeches we are proud of.

🎉 The UP Baguio Debate Varsity proudly congratulates its Chairperson, Oarben Balicoco, for a remarkable series of achievements across multiple tournaments, highlighting excellence both as a debater 🎤 and an adjudicator ⚖️

At the Visayas Novice Debate Cup held on October 25–26, Balicoco was appointed to the Core Adjudication Panel, playing a vital role in ensuring fair, rigorous, and high-level rounds throughout the tournament 🧠✨.

Another achievement is followed by the Ibalong Debate Open on December 13–14, where Balicoco once again served on the Core Adjudication Panel, strengthening UPBDV’s presence on the national debate stage 🏆.

The year concluded with an outstanding competitive run at the Kamalig North-Central Invitationals on December 20–21. Balicoco emerged as part of the 1st Open Breaking Team 🥇, advanced to the Open Grand Finals 🎉, and was awarded Finals Best Speaker 🎙️🔥—a dominant finish to an impressive season.

UPBDV celebrates these achievements and proudly recognizes our goated Chairperson for continuously bringing honor and distinction to the varsity and the debate community.❤️‍🔥

🎉 The UP Baguio Debate Varsity celebrates its delegation’s remarkable performance at the Habitat Debate Open 2025, held last November 29–30! 🗓️🎤

The Habitat Debate Open is a tournament for a cause, advocating for Animal Welfare, and we are grateful to have been part of this meaningful movement. 🐾💚

As Debaters:
🔥 The team of Oarben and Arjae broke as the 1st Open Team and advanced all the way to the Open Grand Finals.
🏅 Oarben emerged as the Overall Best Open Speaker of the tournament.
🌟 Arjae placed as the 5th Best Open Speaker.

As an Adjudicator:
🎙️ Alistair broke as a judge and served on the Open Quarterfinals and Open Semifinals panels.
