Promotion of Kindness and Leading with Purpose!"
In support of the movement, the Rover Scouts of the University of the Cordilleras joined the Anti-Bullying Seminar, where the scouts assisted in welcoming the guests and coordinating the event logistics.
Highlights of the day included motivating presentations from our guest speakers, interactive workshops that promoted further understanding of preventing bullying, as well as reflections on how we, as Rover Scouts, can be respect and compassion champions in our communities.

168 years ago, Robert Baden-Powell was born, and with that, a Scout Movement was sparked that would reach across generations and continents. He planted the seeds of a global community built on values of service, leadership, and personal growth. His belief that small actions can make a big difference continues to inspire us today.
Because of him, Scouting continues to help young people grow into responsible, caring leaders. We honor him for his vision and the difference he made.
Scouts, salute! ๐ซก

City officials recently recommended that high schools in the city consider the integration of basic or national sign language in their curricula.
Under Resolution No. 700, series of 2024, local legislators stated that it is in high school that basic education is most holistic and enjoyed.
During the Scout Official For a Day (SOFAD) session held on October 21, 2024, the SOFAD Council adopted the proposal of SOFAD Councilor Kries Ane M. Tamondong that recommended the integration of basic sign language in the school curricula.
Republic Act (RA) 11106 or the Filipino Sign Language act mandated the use of in schools, broadcast media and in all workplaces of the national sign language.
The council claimed that to promote the use of the national or Filipino sign language, the law directed various agencies to take appropriate steps to propagate sign language competency among hearing people, by offering Filipino sign language as an elective subject in the regular or mainstream curriculum.
Further, for school and child development centers, the law also directed concerned agencies to develop guidelines for the selection, production, procurement and distribution of print and video materials in Filipino Sign language to all public schools, day care centers, and national child development centers.
The body stipulated that to further breach the barrier restrictions of communication, Filipino Sign Language shall be offered as a regular or elective subject during the senior or junior year in high school to present an opportunity to prepare the students to be able to communicate through the same not just with their co-students but with the deaf community in total.
Moreover, workshops in schools shall be conducted if the implementation of the regular or elective subject of the Filipino Sign Language is not applicable.
It pointed out that pending action being taken to promote and propagate the national sign language, time dictates that the high schools should already have in their curriculum a subject on the learning and use of the national sign language.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the different high schools in the city and the City Schools Division for information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. By Dexter A. See

December 12, 2024 | We mourn the loss of our three young Scouts from Zamboanga City Council. This tragic event has brought immense grief to the Scouting community, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones during this very difficult time.
The Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) remains deeply committed to the safety and well-being of all our Scouts. We follow strict safety protocols and processes in the planning and ex*****on of all Scouting activities, including jamborees, to ensure that participants are safe at all times. We are also looking closely at the details of the incident in order to revisit and strengthen our existing policies and procedures on the conduct of Scouting activities.
In the meantime, we are implementing a moratorium on all outdoor Scouting activities and encouraging our Local Councils to promote Scouting activities in controlled environments/settings. We will use this opportunity to equally capacitate our field Implementors in mainstreaming sound risk and safety management practices in Scouting.
As we work closely with authorities to investigate the circumstances of this incident, we respectfully request privacy for the family as they grieve. We also encourage everyone to refrain from spreading unverified information. The BSP is ready to extend any and all possible form of assistance to the victims, their families and the survivors.

Scouts from the University of the Cordilleras bravely pushed through with the City Park Clean-Up Drive despite the bad weather as part of the 2024 International Coastal Clean-Up Day.
The Scouts focused their Clean-Up Drive around the canals and waterways of Burnham Park and Children's Park in Baguio City Philippines on September 21, 2024.
This is a call to action to create cleaner, healthier waterways for future generations. It's time for change; let us all care for our waterways.
