I have a question for you all: when you were first buying your old house, and you knew there would be more costs associated with it than a newer house, how did you go about making peace with that decision? I feel like emotionally, my husband and I are in love with this house, and even after looking at other ones it’s this one that we keep coming back to. It feels RIGHT. But financially it’s a little scary. I know to restore it is going to take a lot of money, and time, and work. We are trying to find a contractor familiar with old homes to do a pre-offer walk through with us to figure out the full extent of what we are looking at, but scenes from “The Money Pit” with Tom Hanks keep flashing in my mind 😂
UPDATE: had the home inspection today and it went much better than I was prepared for! Honestly nothing major! 😅 The roof has a few years left but we may want to just redo it now while we’re financially able to. Other than that it’s just a lot of projects that we can do ourselves or hire out as needed. Putting an offer in, cross your fingers for us please! This place has claimed our hearts. ❤️
