WHEN IN BAGUIO, LET'S WALK WITH COMMON SENSE
Baguio City has an Anti-Distracted Walking Ordinance
Think scrolling while walking is harmless? In Baguio City, it can actually get you flagged. Hereโs a trivia-style breakdown of one of the cityโs most talked-about ordinances:
โ What is it all about?
Baguioโs Anti-Distracted Ordinance aims to keep pedestrians safe by discouraging activities that take attention away from walking especially on sidewalks and pedestrian lanes.
๐ฑ What actions are considered โdistractedโ?
Using your mobile phone to text, browse, or play games while walking
Reading books, newspapers, or any printed material while crossing streets
Any activity that keeps your eyes and mind off your surroundings
๐ Is phone use totally banned?
Not exactly. Youโre allowed to use your phone if you stop and step aside, as long as youโre not blocking other pedestrians.
โ ๏ธ What happens if youโre caught?
First offense: Warning or reprimand
Repeat offenses: Up to 10 days of community service
No fines, just a reminder to be more responsible and aware.
๐ฏ Why did the city implement this?
Because distracted walking has caused:
Minor accidents and near-misses
Collisions with other pedestrians
Increased risk when crossing busy roads
In a city known for narrow roads and heavy foot traffic, alert walking saves lives.
๐ฎ Who enforces it?
City authorities, including traffic enforcers and public safety officers, help ensure compliance.
๐ฒ Fun takeaway
In Baguio City, โHeads up, phones downโ isnโt just advice, itโs policy. The ordinance reflects the cityโs push for discipline, safety, and shared responsibility in public spaces.
Walking smart is part of being a responsible Baguio citizen and tourist.

๐ญA Magical Candy Land Christmas to Remember!๐ญ

Maraming salamat to the generous hearts behind this meaningful activity, led by Maโam Marianne Grace Gascon, Vice-President for Academic Affairs, and Maโam Rowena Acacio, Head of Community Engagement Services, together with all PCC sponsors and staff. โฅ๏ธ
This wonderful celebration was made even more special with the presence of Dr. Felto P. Agpawa, LIS School Principal, Mr. Jun Lardizabal, SPTA President, LIS parents and the ever-supportive Supreme Elementary Learner Government.
