HISTORY

In August 1951, the Philippine Baptist Mission of the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention authorized the establishment of a theological school and asked Dr. Frank P. The result was the establishment in 1952 of the Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary and Bible School, Inc., with seven Chinese students and five faculty members. From its humble beginnings sharing spa

ce at the Chinese Baptist Church of Baguio, PBTS transferred in 1955 to its present location in the picturesque Guisad Valley in Baguio City. The three-hectare campus features a mix of academic and administrative buildings, residential quarters for faculty and staff, and dormitories for students nestled among stately pine trees. As of now, a total of nine Presidents have served with PBTS, starting with Dr. Lide in 1952. The transition from American to Filipino leadership happened only recently, in 1999, when Dr. Alfredo G. Saure became the first Filipino President Emeritus of the seminary. The current President is Dr. Armando Canoy, who started his term in September 2012. MISSION

To train God-called and church-selected men and women for Christian ministry. VISION

Under the Lordship of Christ and in the power of the Holy Spirit, we strive to produce academically competent and ministerially skilled leaders who will advance the Kingdom of God. PBTS endeavors to develop servant leaders who are competent in holistic ministry. While PBTS participates in a broader evangelical community, we seek to foster a deep appreciation for the Baptist tradition in which we are rooted. Theologically Sound. Accepting the full authority of the Bible in matters of faith and practice, PBTS strives for academic excellence and faithfulness to the revelation of God. Spirit-Filled. With the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit, PBTS emphasizes spiritual growth and active involvement in worldwide evangelism.

๐Ÿ“ธ The chaplaincy training partner of PBTS, Bukal Life Care and Counseling Center, along with the Pag-Asa Para sa Bata Project and in coordination with the Baguio Mental Health Council, conducted a mental health and pastoral support activity on August 14, 2026, for families internally displaced by monsoon rains. The activity provided a safe space for families to process difficult emotions during the crisis.

This was followed by a pastoral care session on August 18, 2026, facilitated by Bukal Life chaplains alongside social workers at the City Social Welfare and Development Office. The session aimed to provide psycho-spiritual support, allowing social workers to share and process their experiences.
