Grade 3 SMART Learning Community Learners Oriented on Wayground, MS Teams, and Google Meet

In line with Baguio Central School's commitment to providing innovative, learner-centered, and technology-enhanced education, the Grade 3 SMART Learning Community (SLC) successfully conducted an orientation on the use of Wayground, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet for its 68 learners, composed of 33 learners from Grade 3 Masipag and 35 learners from Grade 3 Mahinahon.

The orientation was facilitated by the Grade 3 class advisers, Mrs. Racquel Stephanie M. Caponpon of Grade 3 Mahinahon and Mr. Conrado V. Mapili Jr. of Grade 3 Masipag, who guided the learners in effectively utilizing digital learning platforms that support both face-to-face and online learning experiences.

The Grade 3 SMART Learning Community officially utilizes Wayground Premium as its primary learning and assessment platform. This initiative is fully supported and funded by the School Administration and the School Parents-Teachers Association (SPTA) headed by Mr. Marlon De Castro (SPTA President), reflecting their shared commitment to enhancing educational quality through technology integration.

For the past two years, Grade 3 SLC learners have been benefiting from the premium features of Wayground. The platform offers a wide variety of assessment formats that cater to different learning styles and competencies. Through its engaging gamification features, learners enjoy interactive and enjoyable learning experiences while simultaneously monitoring their academic progress across various subject areas.

Wayground provides teachers with real-time learning data and analytics, enabling them to identify learners' strengths and areas for improvement. Through immediate assessment results and comprehensive reports, teachers can implement timely interventions, enrichment activities, and remediation programs tailored to learners' needs. The platform also simplifies reporting processes and feedback mechanisms, allowing teachers to make data-driven instructional decisions that improve learning outcomes.

Furthermore, Wayground strengthens home-school partnerships by providing parents with timely updates regarding their children's academic progress. Parents can easily monitor their child's performance and provide the necessary support at home. The platform promotes learner engagement, develops digital literacy skills, encourages self-directed learning, and provides immediate feedback that helps learners understand and improve their performance. These features contribute to a more personalized, responsive, and effective learning environment.

During the orientation, learners used their personal gadgets, which they regularly bring to school as part of the SMART Learning Community program. They were trained on how to access lessons, participate in learning activities, complete assignments, and take assessments, including their Periodical Examinations, through the Wayground platform.

In addition, learners were oriented on the use of Microsoft Teams and Google Meet, which serve as the official platforms for the Grade 3 SMART Learning Community's recorded online learning sessions conducted every Friday. These recorded sessions are uploaded to the official pages of their respective classes, enabling learners to revisit lessons anytime and anywhere. This practice promotes continuous learning, reinforcement of concepts, and mastery of competencies beyond the classroom.

One of the flagship innovations of the SMART Learning Community is its implementation of Hybrid Learning. Through this approach, learners who are unable to attend face-to-face classes due to illness, emergencies, or other valid reasons can still participate in classroom instruction through online platforms while their classmates continue learning inside the classroom. This ensures that no learner is left behind and that learning continuity is maintained regardless of circumstances.

The SMART Learning Community of Baguio Central School likewise supports the Department of Education's Learning Continuity Framework through the implementation of the 4H Framework: Hayo, Hinay, Hinga, at Hinto. This framework serves as a guide in ensuring that learning continues while prioritizing the safety, well-being, and protection of learners and school personnel during emergencies, disasters, and class suspensions.

Through Hayo, learning continues when conditions are safe and conducive for teaching and learning. Hinay promotes flexible learning delivery through online classes, digital platforms, and recorded lessons during minor disruptions such as inclement weather and localized emergencies. Hinga emphasizes the importance of checking on the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of learners and teachers during challenging situations. Meanwhile, Hinto recognizes situations where learning activities must be temporarily paused to ensure the safety and protection of everyone.

The Grade 3 SMART Learning Community's use of Wayground Premium, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Hybrid Learning, and recorded online lessons uploaded to class pages exemplifies the school's commitment to the DepEd 4H Framework. These innovative practices ensure that learning remains continuous and accessible, even during periods of heavy rainfall, typhoons, class suspensions, and other unforeseen circumstances.

These best practices of Baguio Central School were proudly shared during the annual Educational Technology (EdTech) Congress of the Schools Division of Baguio City. What started as an innovation in Grade 3 in School Year 2024-2025 has now expanded to Grades 4, 5, and 6, showcasing the school's dedication to future-ready education and transformative learning experiences.

Through the integration of technology, innovative teaching practices, and strong partnerships among the school, parents, and the community, the SMART Learning Community continues to provide meaningful, engaging, and accessible learning opportunities for every learner. As Baguio Central School embraces 21st-century learning, it remains steadfast in its mission of ensuring that learning never stops while safeguarding the welfare, growth, and success of every child.
