The College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM) held a seminar-workshop at the MJF Function Hall on March 19.
With the theme โArts and Culture as a Catalyst of Sustainable Tourism and Hospitality Development,โ the event featured both a seminar and interactive art activities that highlighted the role of arts and culture in strengthening sustainable tourism and hospitality practices.
The first speaker, Mr. Kyle Jon K. Tultog, shared meaningful insights connecting culture, tourism, and lived experiences in Baguio through his talk titled โLiving Heritage: Crafting Tourism and Hospitality Stories.โ His discussion emphasized how cultural heritage shapes authentic tourism experiences and fosters deeper connections between visitors and destinations.
Following this, Ms. Constance D. Florentin led the second session, encouraging CHTM students to actively participate in an art workshop aligned with her topic, โArts Creativity as Tourism and Hospitality Experience.โ The activity allowed students to explore creativity as a tool for enhancing guest experiences and promoting cultural appreciation.
Overall, the seminar-workshop underscored the significant role of arts and culture in shaping meaningful and sustainable tourism and hospitality practices. Through the insightful discussions of Mr. Tultog and the engaging workshop facilitated by Ms. Florentin, students were reminded that tourism goes beyond service, it is about storytelling, creativity, and cultural preservation.
As future professionals in the industry, CHTM students are encouraged to embrace these values and become advocates of sustainable and culturally enriched tourism experiences.
