Making a difference one word at a time!✍️

Returning writers and enthusiastic newcomers alike have gathered yesterday, September 7, 2024 at the Centennial Hall, University of Baguio to explore the marvelous world of journalism during a writing workshop with the theme of "Healing Narratives: Stories of Care and Compassion."

Together with our respective keynote speaker, Sir Kevin Jake Angyab, we bridged the gap between health care and journalism by discussing the fundamentals of writing, timely topics, especially in health care and medicine, and how to combine those into a perfect blend palatable to the public audience. By the end of the discourse, the students are given time to apply their learnings through writing their own articles focusing on the current status of the MPOX disease.

In this workshop, it was proven that nursing is not just science — it is an art, and by crafting compelling stories of care and compassion, your narratives can heal someone beyond a physical level and touch hearts.💓

University of Baguio Welcomes its Freshmen with a Blasting "Dapit Ubiano: Living in a High City Summer” Walk

On August 29, 2024, UB Cardinal Gym, Baguio City — In honor of the institution's 76th founding anniversary, which falls under the theme "L.O.V.E. UB: Leveraging Opportunities and Valuing Experiences," the University of Baguio cordially welcomed its freshmen class with a colorful and lively parade. This event signifies the start of a new academic journey. This year's celebration embraced the theme “Dapit Ubiano: Living in a High City Summer,” which captures the essence of Baguio’s unique blend of urban life and tranquil mountains. Nursing students showed up
with beaming grins on their faces, brimming with enthusiasm and passion. The event began with a colorful march along Anacleto Street up until the university Cardinal Gym. Cheering wildly and in harmony, the freshmen of the School of Nursing personified the
essence of a true Ubian. In addition to serving as a rite of passage, the walk demonstrated the university's dedication to helping its students develop a feeling of belonging and community. After the parade, there were several interactive events and competitions, such as the ICONS Impersonation Competition, the culminating ceremony, the award ceremony, and a small-scale performance by the Music Society. Every element of the event embodied the theme
"Dapit Ubiano," which translates to "neighborly gatherings in Baguio," highlighting the value of student participation and collaboration.

In a significant step towards advancing global healthcare, student nurses at the University of Baguio celebrated their 24th capping, pinning, and candle-lighting ceremonies last September 22, 2023. These ceremonies mark the acceptance of their role and responsibilities as nurses, symbolized by the traditional caps and pins. Additionally, they lit the lamp in homage to Florence Nightingale, signifying their commitment to being beacons of light and compassion in modern healthcare. The theme emphasized competence, equity, education, and excellence, echoing their dedication to making a positive impact in the world of nursing. 🕯️👩‍⚕️

About 8 participants from men's and women's category vie for a spot during the Table Tennis tryout held at Sports Room D401 this Saturday, September 16, 2023.

The selection committee, headed by Mr. Richard Rosalin, School's Sports Coordinator, was able to handpick the best players that will represent the School of Nursing for the upcoming UBlympics.
