HAPPY PINK OCTOBER UCians!
In celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, here are simple ways you'll need to learn to assess yourself in case there is a presence of notifiable lumps that could be a warning sign of breast cancer.
When to perform a Breast self-examination?
BSE is performed once a month. The best time is a few days after your period ends or 3-5 days after the start of your period when your breasts are least likely to be swollen or tender.
When to Seek Medical Advice?
If you find a lump or notice any changes that concern you, donโt hesitate to contact a healthcare professional for further evaluation.
Remember
Regular self-exams, along with mammograms and clinical exams as recommended by your healthcare provider, are key components in early detection. Stay informed and proactive about your breast health!

HOW TO HELP SOMEONE EXPERIENCING SEIZURE!
Seizure is a chronic, noncommunicable brain disorder affecting individuals of all ages. It is characterized by a brief episodes of involuntary movement that may involve a part of the body (partial) or the entire body (generalized) and are sometimes accompanied by loss of consciousness and control of bowel or bladder function.
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
โข Unusual sensations or twitching before the seizure
โข Staring, not responding to anyone
โข UNCONTROLLABLE MUSCLE SPASMS
โข Loss of consciousness (passes out)
โข Uncontrolled peeing or pooping
WHAT TO DO IF YOU SEE SOMEONE HAVING A SEIZURE:
1. Gently place the person on the floor or ground, and REMOVE ANY NEARBY OBJECTS.
2. LAY THE PERSON ON HIS OR HER SIDE to prevent choking on saliva (spit).
3. If the person vomits, clear out the mouth gently with your finger.
4. LOOSEN ANY CLOTHING around the head or neck.
5. DON'T TRY TO PREVENT THE PERSON FROM SHAKING โ this will not stop the seizure and may make them more uncomfortable.
6. DON'T PUT ANYTHING IN THE PERSONโS MOUTH. Forcing teeth apart could cause injuries or block the airway.
7. Try to keep track of how long the seizure lasts.
WHEN TO CALL 911:
โข Has a seizure lasting more than 5 minutes or is having repeated seizures
โข Has trouble breathing
โข Has a bluish color on the lips, tongue, or face
โข Falls or hits his or her head before or during a seizure
